Nice restaurant that has lots of potential. While the food was good and the presentation really good, the portions were very small, making the value for money quite poor, I have had bigger portions in Michelin restaurants.
They also used too much salt and pepper in the dishes.
The thing that really knocked it was the wines. I ordered a bottle of Bordeaux, expecting a strong Chardonnay (I’m English and get most of my whites from the Bordeaux region), but instead got something horrible and more of a Sauvignon blanc. I ordered another bottle, which was a chardonnay and that was horrible too. At $100 a head, you would expect better.
With a bit of effort, this could be a nice restaurant, but they need to find a new wine supplier (you can get Kendal Jackson at Walmart) and look at their portion sizes.

Le Rouge offers a charming (and surprisingly social) atmosphere. The cocktails are top notch, made with excellent ingredients and not watered down. The staff are always pleasant and prompt. If you’re looking for a relaxed, romantic night out, then Le Rouge is where you need to be.

TLDR: Expensive, LOUD, Horrible Service, Terrible Food (COVERED in pepper!). They want to be upscale and sure charge you like an upscale place, but this is merely a step above a corner bar.
My wife and I went out for a Valentine’s dinner the day AFTER Valentine’s. When we arrived the bar was full, busy and SO LOUD! The dinning area was less than half full. There was no hostess, and after a few minutes a waiter came to talk to us and said he would have a table ready in a few minutes.
He took us to a table behind the bar, not in the quieter, less busy dining area (despite asking us if we were there for a full dinner). We were sat at a TINY table for two. It was a SMALL bar table. He filled our glasses with luke warm tap water and said he would be back for our orders.
I opted for the Lobster and Filet for $50, and my wife got the Salmon FIlet. He brought us some bread after about 10min, and then we realized that we didn’t have napkins. We had just run out of water and when he came back my wife ordered a drink, and we expected him to bring some water.
Our water glasses were empty and it took him almost another 10min to fill them. He apologized and said that the bar was backed up and they were busy and “I will get to you when I can” !!!!!! My wife and I just stared at each other in awe!
Of course the bar was backed up, she was serving tables, making drinks, and let’s not forget hanging out and chatting with friends next to the bar, or with people sitting in the back.
Oh yes, the people in the back. There were couches behind my wife, and the group behind her were talking about some of the most inappropriate and disgusting things. They were SO loud that we gave up trying talk to each other, we sat across from each other texting.
After about 40min our meals finally arrived. Her Salmon was not what she was expecting at all, and my mine wasn’t really either. I either expected a slightly larger steak, or more lobster. Instead I got MAYBE two Tablespoons of Lobster covered in sauce that had so much pepper it burned my mouth! It was completely inedible! It looked like there were whole peppercorn in the sauce! My steak, while cooked to the correct color, was NOT juicy at all. The outside was kind of tough. The menu said it would have a Bearnaise. I guess that was the sauce on the Lobster. I DID see that it said “Peppercorn Bearnaise”, and I’ve had it elsewhere and it wasn’t made with 99% pepper!
The potatoes under the steak did NOT soak up the juices, and the black stuff under the potatoes was also pepper flavored. The little tomatoes tasted as if they were cooked with shrimp.
As for my wife’s. You can see all the pepper on her plate, and there was so much on and in the salmon that she spent half the meal trying to scrape it off.

I’ve been places where you could use a fork, or butter knife to cut the steak, so I tried them. NOT EVEN CLOSE! After several minutes I asked for a steak knife, and he brought me one 5min or so later. By this time my steak is now luke warm, and the steak knife had difficulty cutting it. Oh, this was also about the time my wife got her drink (about 20min after ordering).
We ate what we could, and as much as I LOVE Creme Bruele I wasn’t about to give them any more money, we paid our bill and walked to Bin 707 for dessert and more drinks (which were both served in about 5min).
All in all, this is hands down the worse dining experience I’ve had in Grand Junction. My wife and I thought we’d try something different, a little nicer, and it was a disaster. This is NOT an upscale place, but they sure love to charge you like it!

French restaurant nestled in Grand Junctions downtown scene. Outdoor patio, large cocktail and wine selections. Service is friendly and owner makes their way around too. Bummer is food is mediocre at best. Not a bad stop for a drink and outdoor service.

Yes, they are expensive, but the food is really good. Great soup and perfect steak. The service is pretty good. We told them we had a concert to get to and they were very good about getting everything out to us in a speedy manner. Until the end, when they brought us the check and then never came to get the credit card, so we paid at the bar. I could see the service there being a problem if you aren’t proactive with it. We’ll go again for that steak though. If they are slow, politely just say something to them. Hopefully they will be more attentive.

Everything was excellent! So glad we stopped in. The service was superb, ambience is amazing, lighting, decorations, table settings all very nice. I ordered a really great cocktail. I don’t remember the name of it but it had grapefruit vodka and st. germaine in it and it was mixed perfectly. I ordered the sea scallops and everything on my plate was delicious. The wild rice and ratatouille were yummy and the scallops were like butter and cooked to perfection. Prices were great for the experience. I highly recommend Le Rouge.

Awesome cocktails and sociable staff. The bar staff is always great but I will never order at a table again. came in for my graduation dinner and it was an utter disappointment. We booked 5 weeks in advance and weren’t even seated at a full service table. I understand when a restaurant is busy but it took 2 hours to even get an appetizer let alone the entrees. The entrees were ok at best, with dry chicken and imroperly cooked steak and duck, this may be biased given the additional hour wait for the food but it was not appetizing at the time. When the owner opened the back door while it was frigid outside and then complained about my brother “being rude” by asking if if he could close the door half way I was done with the whole experience. I also found out that the chef was drunk the whole time from several regulars that stopped by to chat and was told repeatedly that “oh, sorry we forget your back here.” It was even more of a disappointment given the fact that I ran into several friends while there. To be fair the server was delightful and apologetic. To top off the night a 20% gratuity was included automatically with the full price after having to ask where the appetizers were and the apps were given for free to friends of mine at the bar while I was standing there. We we’re then told they were out of our order; which we switched and waited another 45 min for. My whole table was pleasant throughout and I feel as though that was taken advantage of.

This was the first time I have been here and I am so sad now I didn’t come sooner! I was truly skeptical about French food in Junction.. but it was truly amazing! I hadn’t had escargot since my first visit to France and this rivaled that. It was perfect. The herbs. The garlic. Cooked to perfection. I would come back again and again to just have the escargot and bread. The French onion soup was also on point. No where else in junction does a French onion soup right. The onions were like butter. My boyfriends meal was spot on. He got the scallops and couldn’t stop talking about how perfectly cooked they were. The Opéra cake for dessert was perfect. We spoke with the (owner/chef?) on the way out and he was very nice. Our server was nice but did not pace the food appropriately, which was mildly annoying. She also wasn’t as knowledgeable as the other server. So we ended up listening the the other server talk to her tables. However both those things can be addressed with training and didn’t ruin the night. Overall a wonderful night.

Food was good, when it finally showed up 2 hours after we arrived. The service was poor and the kitchen apparently overwhelmed. We arrived a little early and were one of the first parties to be seated in the dining room. Nevertheless it took over thirty minutes just to give our drink order and went downhill from there. Our food order wasn’t taken for over an hour and other tables were being served their entrees despite us being seated first. And we kept odd comments from the waitress such as when asked for the sauce on the side of a dish “no substitutions” and that our party of six was “too big for the kitchen to handle” and the the manager had walked of the job due to an emergency. The entire dining room and bar area was being served by one waitress and one busboy. Despite all that, the food was actually quite good. The table next to us walked out before their entrees we served and one of our party who doesn’t eat meat was served short ribs instead of the fish she ordered. She went home without dinner. It was a kitchen/service mess. Due to to delay they said they were giving us a 20% discount which was by removing the mandatory tip for parties of six or more. Of course we tipped anyway. I only gave it a second star because the food was good.

The steak was burnt, vegetables soggy, and the French onion soup was bitter. When spoke with the manager she was indifferent and made zero effort to make anything right. I will say the meat and cheese tray was good and our waitress was excellent. Even though she brand new and took our concerns to the manager and was sent back herself to try and explain why, she was visibly flustered, but did a very good job of keeping her composure and trying her best to help. Definitely not worth the money for the food. Won’t eat there again.
