Welcome to Maddie Jo’s BBQ, home of our famous Kornbread Waffles, as well as Mickey Jo’s BBQ Sauce! We are a family-owned business in San Tan Valley. We serve pulled pork, chicken, ribs, and more daily. On Fridays and Saturdays only, we also serve brisket! And, every Tuesday is Taco Tuesday!

Small family-owned business. The owners are very friendly. Food was top-notch. Arrive early to ensure your selection is available. I had a half-rack of delicious ribs. Others in my party had brisket (delicious and tender) and a brisket sandwich (also excellent). The cornbread waffle is highly recommended.

My husband and I finally made it here last night for Valentine’s Day and WOW — what an amazing experience. The owners are absolutely wonderful and made us feel so welcome.
The brisket honestly blew me away… tender, full of flavour, and cooked perfectly. And the potato salad? Hands down the best I’ve ever had.
If you’re anywhere near the area, you have to check this place out. Wow, just wow!

I stopped by here for the first time and I ordered a Pulled Pork Sandwich, I also ordered their Cole Slaw and both tasted delicious.
The place is very cozy and almost feels like a home atmosphere, the people who were behind the counter were are also amazing and helped me with my food decision.
I would definitely come back again the next time that I find my self in the area and try other options from their menu.

Maddie Jo’s BBQ is more than just a restaurant, it’s a heartfelt tribute to family, tradition, and love. Founded in 2023 in honor of the owner’s daughter and mother who passed away, the values of family, faith, and care are woven into every detail, from the warm, welcoming decor to the homecooked recipes that taste like they’ve been passed down through generations.
The highlight of my visit was the brisket (we lucked out that it was still available on a Wednesday). It peppery, tender, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious with just the right smoky depth. It’s the kind of BBQ that lingers in your memory long after the last bite.
The cornbread waffle was equally impressive. It struck a perfect balance, not overly sweet like traditional waffles, but flavorful and textured enough to let each person add syrup to their own taste. It was a creative and thoughtful twist that showcased the attention to detail this place is known for. We found out about Maddie Jo’s on Instagram for this dish and it did not disappoint.
The pork sandwich was a hit in our house. The meat was tender and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the pickles on the side, which added just the right contrast. Having lived in Kansas City, MO, I’ve experienced some of the best BBQ profiles, and Maddie Jo’s stands right up there with the best of them. Their flavor balance is spot-on… nothing too sweet or too sour, just bold and honest BBQ.
The mac and cheese was classic and comforting, exactly what you’d hope for from a homey BBQ spot, and the banana pudding? Absolutely incredible. Creamy, rich, and just the right amount of sweetness to round out the meal.
If you can’t make it to the San Tan Valley, Mickey Jo’s BBQ sauce is bottled and available for shipping and trust me, it’s worth it. The owner was telling me that the sauce was actually the original idea almost 10 years ago, long before the restaurant came to be.

Wow—this food was absolutely amazing. My little man took one bite and said, “Wow!” The brisket was incredibly tender and full of flavor. We’ve honestly never had anything like it before. We were both blown away by the quality and taste. Highly recommend!

Absolutely brilliant BBQ! This is a must-stop if you’re in the area. The rich, semi-sweet, sauce was perfectly balanced. I ordered the ribs and was plenty full after 3. The meat was smoked, and fall-off-the-bone-tender. They even have their firewood stacked outside, so you KNOW it’s gonna be good.

First time visitors and man were we impressed! First off the staff was amazing from the moment you walked in. You can tell they put their heart and soul into this business. The cleanliness and no frills approach to just good food. We had the brisket, chicken, Mac and cheese, Cole slaw, and my favorite, the cornbread waffle. Wow! You have to get that with any combination of options but make sure the waffle is included. Brisket was perfectly tender. Chicken was full of flavor. No complaints, great food, great staff, great service. Good thing we got there when we did as a good amount of people began lining up. We were happy we went and will definitely be going back.

The brisket is amazing. Had it in a sandwich. Phil’s Portky sandwich had everything in it! Almost like a sample platter! The banana pudding was delicious. We went on a frioright when they open. Everything was available.
