Panamint Springs Restaurant: A Hidden Gem in the Heart of California
Reviews
What a hidden gem! This countryside restaurant in the village has some of the best American comfort food around. Everything tasted homemade and full of flavor — from the juicy burgers to the perfectly crisp fries and warm, flaky pie for dessert. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with friendly staff who make you feel like part of the community. It’s the kind of place you want to linger, enjoy a great meal, and relax. Highly recommend for anyone passing through or looking for a true local experience!
There’s no cell reception in the area, so the restaurant’s Wi-Fi is a real relief.
It’s an American-style meat diner, and the guy at the counter was very friendly and helped us when we asked for directions to the next town.
What can you eat there?
Burgers and steaks — nothing extraordinary, but for a place in the middle of nowhere, it’s definitely a solid and satisfying meal.
The food was very good, but what was master level is the service: everybody is amazingly friendly and kind, always with a smile. At the general store they told me everything is family owned. ♥️
I really recommend it.
There was only one person working in the entire restaurant, and he was running back and forth trying to manage everything. I do appreciate that he was friendly and polite despite being overwhelmed — thank you for that.
We ordered two burgers, and I got a glass of wine. Sadly, the wine was served in a glass that looked very dirty, with water stains and residue, as if it hadn’t been used or cleaned properly in a long time. The wine itself tasted like it came from a very old, open bottle — I couldn’t even drink it. The coffee we ordered wasn’t good either.
It’s sad to see how much things have changed since my first visit. All the charm from 2018 seems to be gone. Maybe it’s because of the pandemic or staffing issues, but it left me feeling frustrated. We drove all the way from Las Vegas through Death Valley just to visit this place again because of the wonderful memories I had from before. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to those memories this time around.
