a quaint 26 seat upscale casual cafe with small bar & lounge with a 6 seat indoor patio serving seafood, meats and some veggie dishes. Eclectic, art everywhere and a really comfortable atmosphere specializing in house made products, local farmer grown foods and fish, dam nice place. A James Beard Nominee with a really old Chef/Owner who may be a touch crazy, lol
Quaint eatery offering Southern fare made with locally sourced ingredients & a bar.

I walked in this restaurant about 15 minutes before opening and was told I had to wait until 5pm by a short bald man wearing an apron. I saw two other men at the bar but figured it could’ve been the owners. I returned at 5, discover more people are at the bar having drinks, and now I’m left wondering if I was discriminated against because I am black and they were white. In spite of I ordered food and I get a raw fish dish (appetizer pictured below) and after an over priced rockfish dish $46 (main) which was “goujon” size. For dessert key lime pie that was room temperature. Very disappointing because the surrounding restaurants are great and I hope this review helps anyone who doesn’t want to be treated as I was.

Eclectic and quirky restaurant for authentic, delicious Southern food, with an emphasis on fresh seafood. I got the pork platter, and my husband got the shrimp gumbo. Both were excellent! The space is decorated with eccentric but fun decor, and our server was very friendly. Skip it if you’re in a rush; it’s the kind of place to slow down, unwind, and enjoy a great meal.

Wow what a meal! We were fortunate enough to go during gumbo week, and I’m so glad that we did! I had the quail and sausage gumbo, and it was delicious. Husband had the yellowfin tuna special and spoke high praises. Our server was wonderful, and very accommodating when we realized we needed to cut our evening shorter than expected. We got the ‘Salty Dog’ chocolate torte to-go for dessert, and oh my goodness, it was incredible! We will be back!

I enjoyed the decor, but unfortunately the food was just ok. Everything was very bland and drowned in cream sauce.
The menu is oddly written like it’s a biography, the staff have a long story to tell you about every dish, it felt odd and off-putting – like the whole place is a shrine to the chef.
Good food and service speaks for itself, if we’re interested in knowing more about the chef or the restaurant, we’ll ask.
The service was also strange, they treated us like we were lucky to be there rather than welcoming us in.
The highlight was the desserts they were very good.

Food was unbelievably good. Many dishes use smoked tomatoes which have a unique flavor that kicks up the already-amazing sauces. We got several appetizers and entres, and as far as I can tell, you can’t go wrong. The menu changes with whatever is most fresh or in season. The place classy without being stodgy, the art was really unique and cool. The service was attentive and friendly. It can be costly for a large group, but it is 100% worth the price. Strongly recommend for a semi-fancy but unique dinner spot!

Fantastic dining. Hands down. The service was great, our server was incredibly well informed and helped us settle on some great cheeses for an appetizer, and they had a solid drink selection as well. The menu all looked great, but I went with the flat iron steak. Perfectly cooked, tender and flavorful, the sides that came with it paired up nicely, and it was served with a sauce that I will be dreaming about for years. The menu of locally sourced and rotating seasonal vegetables, meats, etc. make for a dynamic dining experience, and everything is made with such a high standard of quality. This chef knows what they’re doing. The atmosphere with the various eclectic art pieces on the walls made it feel cozy and unique, high caliber meals with a more laid back vibe. A must try if you are in the area

It is always a pleasure to have dinner and drinks here. Mr. Syd certainly knows how to impress with the menu! We always have a hard time choosing because everything we’ve ever had has always been mind-blowingly delicious. The atmosphere is warm and happy, unpretentious. The drinks, made by the lovely Cat, are always on point. The desserts are to die for…Saving room for them is difficult, but an absolute must do. Looking forward to our next visit!

An image is worth a thousand words, so…
Please take a closer look at the price of the cheese on the bill and at the cheese board that came with it, $47 for 3 standard cheeses (no prices listed anywhere on the cheese menu).
Plus, our appetizer, cheese course, and 1 entree took over two hours to arrive, despite the restaurant being less than half full.
It wasn’t about the wait, but the feeling of being completely ripped off.
Not recommended at all, unless you’re eager to pay over $3 per slice for the most expensive cheese you’ve ever had.

Generous portions and surprisingly low cost. This place is small but really cool! I ordered the etouffee and asked for extra spicy. The meal did not disappoint. Another in my party had the flat iron steak and immensely enjoyed it, it came with a pancake on top. In a very classy move by the chef Syd, he stopped by our table to make sure we enjoyed our meal and chat for a minute. Possibly because he wanted to check if the food was too spicy. I will certainly return to try more of the great food made here.
