Our server Jordan C. was so personable and pleasant, and always said my pleasure and absolutely sealed the deal with our dining experience. I will 100% be coming back at least once a week or until I get tired of sushi.
The Wagyu fried rice was phenomenal and as per usual, the seared fatty tuna nigiri was out of this world. The cocktails were fantastic, very interesting and unique. If you get the paper crane cocktail, it comes with a miniature paper crane origami, which is so cute!
I picked up my food inside and wow! The ambiance is gorgeous. Think sleek, modern Japanese design with warm wood paneling, a glowing ceiling that gives a soft golden light, stone accents, and a long polished sushi bar with a clean, minimalist layout. It’s classy but not pretentious. The whole room feels calm, spacious, and thoughtfully designed.
The staff? Super friendly. I was greeted immediately with a big smile and told my order would be ready in a couple minutes, and I could sit at the bar while I waited.
While waiting, I ordered their Miso Sour. The whiskey (honey-butter washed), miso honey, house made yuzu sour, and sesame salt. This drink was freaking delicious. Smooth, layered, a perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and savory, and the toasted sesame salt added the best nutty finish. I basically chugged it. No regrets. The bartender was awesome, fast, friendly, and genuinely great to chat with. Huge kudos.
• Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura:
Two shrimp, two bell peppers, and two Japanese eggplant pieces. Still warm, still crisp, still light. That alone is impressive for takeout. The only thing missing was tentsuyu, which really is essential for proper tempura. That said, the quality of the fry was so good I wasn’t mad about it.
• Clam Miso Soup:
A sleeper hit. Six little neck clams, perfectly cooked and bursting with that savory miso-clam broth flavor. Honestly better than most dine-in miso soups I’ve had elsewhere.
• Nationals Roll:
The roll was tight, cleanly cut, and structurally flawless! No loose rice, no unraveling, just textbook technique. The fish tasted extremely fresh and the balance of spice, sweetness, and crunch was spot-on.
• Pike & Rose Roll:
This one stole the show. The piece of chutoro on top was thick, silky, and absolutely melted. Between the real wasabi heat and the richness of the toro, it felt like something you’d get at a high-end omakase. Outstanding.
Everything was extremely fresh, and they packed the takeout with care. The little soy sauce dish included, utensils, soy sauce packets, the works.
Even as a takeout experience, this was fantastic. The food held up, the flavors were on point, and the quality of the fish was honestly impressive. I can’t wait to come back and dine in properly so I can enjoy everything at its absolute peak—and get another Miso Sour (or three).
I was very happy with my time, the host Irene was very kind and nice showing me to my seat at the bar where I was introduced to John the bar tender. He served me a wonderful Osaka Old Fashioned which was very lovely and not light on the pour. The Kusshi A5 Wagyu Beef Tartare was mouth watering along with the Taro Bliss being my second drink. I also had a visit from Ben the General Manager, he made me feel welcome and told me all about their other restaurant locations.
