When I read one of the reviews, I was skeptical not being from this town and just here because I’m a trucker visiting the port the next day. I’m glad I stopped in. It was like Alice in Wonderland on steroids in the best way Dena took me under her wing. We chuckled as she read the reviews after I mentioned the one review somebody was complaining about how you don’t fit in here unless you’re from this group.
Hell, she even asked us if we were hungry and chuckled about that part of the review they don’t even serve food, but she ordered cheesesteaks from down the street. Not one time did she get frustrated about all the questions I asked her the entire evening people seemed to interact with one another in there. The one guy kept telling me eat salad, salad salad salad as I talked about I’m overweight lol
Well, then there was Charlie. I hope I got his name right he did not stop the entire evening. He was really special. I really appreciated him at his conversation also. I gave him the nickname master blaster as he was burning the boxes after I seen him crawling on the floor and then he disappeared to pull the stock out of the basement. They do not play here. They are systematic and kick ass really appreciate the experience.
I think I saw the Construction. She says you’ll never see another one of those bottle holders ever. I think I’ve got that same brass frame of a table at home. I’m gonna make one of those for my bar lol.
Lo and behold if you’re an operating engineer, this is the place To I was out of local 18 in Ohio I thought I would try to tell a whopper story or show my operating skills fascinating ancient old structure here even a spiral staircase if the walls could talk in this place lol thanks again you all. I will try to make it back here I am definitely fatter from the experience and enjoyment in my life. I told Dena I had my therapy for the evening. The lighting is good also, now go figure I used to be a Philadelphia Eagles fan when I was little little little I love dick Vermeil, and those eagles that almost made it and seeing that crazy interception from that football coach as the NFL films was at the other end of the field and filmed it. Congratulations y’all.

My wife and I asked for dinner suggestions Our server recommended the NY strip – we ordered it medium and the steak came out charred on the one side and hardly done on the other side- it was a stretch for me to call it medium- the steak arrived noticeably cool – i started with the center of the steak and it was tough. For $40 entree more care needs to be taken preparing this meal. Count you blessings that Chef Ramsey wasn’t dining with us.

Not sure why people come to a bar that allows smoking and then complain about it on line . If you do like it there are literally millions of other places to go that don’t allow it. Leave the smoking bars alone. There are very few left because of hard on’s like you people. Find something better to with your life then complaining all the time.

This bar is cash only but they have an ATM available. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. We went around Christmas and they really went all out with the decorations. The chef makes all the food fresh and it comes out hot. The prices of the food and drinks are all reasonable, and you have your pick at a decent assortment of appetizers. The wings were crispy and you can get the sauce on the side to get your desired level of sauciness.

We stopped in for a quick bite and drink at Fireside Tavern. It felt like a local bar but had very welcoming staff that greeted us as soon as we entered. For the table, we ordered crabby fries, mozzarella sticks, and buffalo wings. The chef even came out to make sure there were no adjustments prior to firing up the food. Everything tasted pretty good. The wings were fried well and the mozzarella sticks were massive. If I knew the crabby fries were only just a regular order of fries with Old Bay I may have gone a different direction but the rest of the group didn’t mind them.
Two things to be aware of are that they are cash only, but do have an ATM in the bar. There also was a pretty strong smell of smoke in the bar in case you are sensitive to that.

I give this jawn 5 stars for what it is, it’s a South Philly Bar and the barkeeps are usually GREAT! They serve citywides for $6 which is what I go for. Everytime we’ve gone it’s pretty empty, but that doesn’t phase us much, the bartender usually is awesome to chat/lounge with, and there’s some good people watching at times. But for the most part, just a cool “dive/hole in the wall” type spot to grab a drink or 2 and chill.

Rude and hostile to anyone they don’t know. If you aren’t part of their special “we’ve lived here 100 years” club, and your mom mom went to school with theirs, they won’t give you the time of day. Service was bad. It’s dirty and it stinks too. I didn’t try the food bc I was worried about the cleanliness.
I find it telling when a business gets defensive with bad reviews by clapping back in reply. Instead of being surprised and bothered by such a one off review and working to understand how to improve the customer experience for the next patron.
