I was looking for a quick bite after visiting Boulder Ridge Animal Park. Saw this place on the map. Glad I came here! This place is definitely a “mom and pop” establishment. Super clean, great interior and good home made food! Not busy at all. I met the owner. Super nice guy! Price very reasonable. Such a quaint place in a quaint town. Will come back. Doesn’t look like much on the outside but don’t let that fool you. Stop in.

Great little hidden gem in the whopping metropolis of Freeport, Michigan. The owner and his mom were very welcoming the first and only time there. I’m not from here and they made feel at home. The food is great and priced reasonably. Great way to meet new friends.

We love this place. We have been coming here for about 4 years. The food is excellent. Best burgers, outstanding fish, and spectacular omelettes. Haven’t found anything on the menu that we haven’t liked. We love the local, small town feel. Oh, and love the simple things like grilled cheese and chili. You can always get a side of potato chips, if you like. Don’t get me started on the malts! Hand dipped and served with the big silver container it was blended in containing the extra that didn’t fit into the glass. Mr. Smelker and his mom, Nadine, make the place feel like home.

Inside I was met by a very friendly and personable staff which is always reassuring, the burger I got was phenomenal and is easily one of the best burgers I’ve ever had.

Sign for chicken strips says $2.00 each or 3 for $8.00

I asked if I could get 3 individual chicken strips for $2.00 a piece, and no can do. Then I asked if I could get get 4 strips for $8.00, but nope, I can’t do that!

Order 2 strips and was given three. I asked about the extra one because I don’t want to pay 4 dollars exta, but I guess they give you a different amount if some are smaller? Doesn’t make sense to me, but sure!

Mediocre food, weak coffee. My pancakes tasted like whatever had been on the grill before, I think it involved rosemary. The sausage gravy had split, and the biscuit was flat. The sausage tasted fine but was a bit tough in places. We heard a microwave before the food came out. Was that the sausage or the gravy? Perhaps.
