We tried Zio Joe’s Pizza at the recommendation of my brother in law. We ordered a large cheese, a large pepperoni and a Ceasar salad. They have way more to the menu than just pizza and salad though.

We ordered take out.

The restaurant itself is very small and it seems like it caters to the carryout crowd. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

The pizza itself was very delicious and I actually liked the pepperoni way more than the cheese. Highly recommend. We will be going back to try more of their offerings.

I genuinely wanted to support this new pizza spot and gave it more than one opportunity before writing this review, but unfortunately both experiences were extremely disappointing — not just because of the food, but primarily due to the customer service.

Both times we ordered the same items: a Grandma’s pie (which requires ordering an hour in advance) along with pinwheels. Each time, we very clearly provided instructions for no Parmesan cheese at any stage. I have a strong dislike for Parmesan and can immediately taste when it’s included, so this was not a minor preference — it was an important request.

The first time we ordered, we got home only to realize the pizza tasted strongly of Parmesan. After calling the restaurant, we were told that they “forgot to leave it out during the first step” but avoided adding it at the end. Unfortunately, that still made the pizza completely inedible for me. When we called back to request a refund, we were met with resistance and spent roughly 10 minutes arguing on the phone. We were told we had to physically bring the pizza back. Living 15 minutes away, it made little sense to spend an additional 30 minutes driving back for a mistake the restaurant openly acknowledged was theirs.

Despite that frustrating experience, we decided to give them another chance tonight. We again ordered the Grandma’s pie and pinwheels and repeated multiple times that there should be absolutely no Parmesan at any step. This time, the pizza arrived with Parmesan visibly sprinkled on top.

They did offer to remake the pizza, but given that the pie takes an hour to prepare, waiting another hour simply was not realistic. We requested a refund for the entire order, including the pinwheels, because the point of ordering dinner is to eat together — and once again I was left unable to eat my meal. The restaurant refused to refund the pinwheels, which showed a complete lack of understanding and empathy for the situation.

Mistakes happen — especially with a new restaurant — and most customers are willing to be patient when they feel heard and respected. What made this experience so frustrating was the repeated mistake combined with the defensive and inflexible response when trying to resolve it. Good customer service would have acknowledged the inconvenience and worked toward a reasonable solution without forcing the customer into unnecessary back-and-forth.

It’s disappointing because we truly wanted to like this place and support a new business. However, after two identical issues and difficulty resolving them both times, it’s hard to justify returning. For a restaurant that seems rooted in family-style dining, it was particularly frustrating to feel like the importance of everyone being able to sit down and share a meal together was overlooked.

I hope they take this feedback seriously and improve both attention to order details and how they handle customer concerns moving forward.

Update: attached picture do $5 pinwheels. Burned on the bottom and miniature.

Zio Joe’s Pizza is an awesome find in the Lake Worth area if you are seeking a cozy pizzeria that serves up classic slices and specialty pies that taste just like the pizzerias in NYC. Owned by a family with Brooklyn roots, it’s no wonder the food tastes delicious. Coming from Brooklyn myself, I decided to dine in by ordering a couple of regular slices—a good first order to determine the quality of a place. Upon arriving, the owner Gino, greeted me with a smile and I immediately felt at home. My server was friendly and prompt in giving me the slices fresh out the oven and they were delicious! The crust was not too thick or thin and nice and crispy throughout the entire slice. It was not greasy and I could tell the sauce and cheese were made from fresh ingredients—each bite packing a lot of flavor. Like their motto says, it was “A Slice of Heaven!”. I was so impressed (but stuffed!) that I just had to order an entree to have later that night. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana and some plain rice balls. Even after re-heating, the eggplant was delicious—cut thin, not rubbery, with a nice flavoring on the breadcrumbs. The sauce was also tasty and the rice balls were as good as they taste in Brooklyn. Now I can’t wait to come back and try out some specialty pies and different entrees. I also have to say that the environment at Zio Joe’s is very homely and comfortable. You could see in the decor and the pictures on the wall honoring family members and locations around NY that this place and the cooking that goes on here means a lot to this family. When you have a family that cares along with the talents of cooking and using fresh ingredients, you’ll always have a winner. There’s not much more I can say except, “come to Zio Joe’s as soon as you’re hungry to truly experience “A Slice Of Heaven!”

Truly a LARGE pie, I had forgotten what pizza slices used to be like!!!
Not bad, it’s a thin chewy crust, lacked a bit of sauce imo as you taste cheese and dough only. Guy with the pizza wheel could have been a bit more accurate as some slices were just humongous!
I asked if there was meat with peas in the inside of the rice balls and she said yes, but there wasn’t and they were kinda gummy, and she charged me for sauce which it should have come with…I wouldn’t order them again.

First time ordering here. Person on the phone was great and took my order with ease. When I went in to pick it up later, they were welcoming the moment I walked in. The place was so charming that it would be nice to eat in the restaurant, but we ordered pizzas to go for a birthday party. Everyone loved the pizza and my husband who is from New York said the pizza was great. So happy to find a genuinely good pizza place here in Boynton. This is now our pizza joint.

Pizza made me wanna cry. I was transported back to New York. Perfect crust that when you folded it, held up— not doughy, thin. Great quality cheese and tomatoes. I even ate the crust! Wonderful family owned. It really is “A Slice Of Heaven”.

Scarfing down a 12” pepp in the car. It’s not quite a 9.9 but it’s actually a solid 8.x pie so adjust that upward for Florida. Some char some crunch and some seasoning that too many pizza places sadly neglect. They’re not cheap with the pepperoni either. What is inflating the score for me though too is the cute New York mom at the register. Her squeaky nyc voice…. made the pie even better

Ordered their pep pizza and asked for spicy sauce instead of their normal. The nice lady that answered the phone was able to accommodate! She even called back to make sure we placed our order online

The pizza was amazing. Crispy, spicy and plenty of pepperoni. The pinwheel (chicken parm) was a pleasant surprise – juicy chicken and plenty of flavor. This was my first time ordering from here and it wont be my last!
