First time visiting this family owned venue. The young lady working the counter was very nice and polite, the food was very good but when it sat in a hot tray it tends to get dried out, like the fried chicken and cornbread. The baked chicken my granny got, was fall off the bone tender. She said the flavor was delicious. The yams were very good! While we were sitting there, I believe the young man who owned the restaurant came in and asked how we were and if we enjoyed the food. Told him it was our first visit, and he mentioned the grill out front with brisket, chopped bbq, and ribs, I told him we’d have to come back for that… it smelled so good outside by the grill area. The next thing I know, he came back inside with a small to-go container with a small sample… and let me tell you the sauce was finger licking, lip smacking delicious. The outside of the restaurant is less desirable, and you might drive by… but trust me, it’s what’s inside that matters. Good food, great service. We will drive 45 minutes for the bbq and other foods. Go ahead, give it a try, you won’t be sad, you will be full!

Today I found Big Johns randomly and gave it a shot. The food for the most part was good. I ordered the Stew Beef and with rice, mac&cheese and yams. Beef was a little dry but not to bad, rice was good, mac&cheese good and yams were good but had a strong cinnamon taste. Corn bread wasn’t the best or worst. You also get a drink and piece of cake. Cake is definitely store bought not a big issue. Reasonable price for meal $12. Overall i would return and try again. The woman working up front with the Curly hair has a great personality and attitude.

WOW this bbq is DELICIOUS! Get off the main road & drive 6min to get this Memphis style bbq. Big John was outside cooking & he was even nice enough to give me a big bear hug. See my dad (big John) passed last night and we’re driving to Arkansas but then we saw BIG JOHNS place!! What a coincidence THX BIG JOHN!!

Stopped by on my way from Myrtle Beach and I’m glad I did! For only $13 I got stewed beef, yellow rice, Mac and cheese, cabbage, corn bread, cake and a drink . Food was great, the beef and cabbage were amazing. The corn bread was a little soft and sticky but still good. The server/cashier with the short light colored curly hair and piercings was the sweetest! BLACK OWNED AS WELL!

Looks can be deceiving. Looking at this place from the outside, you may not want to swing in. The inside could use a little work too, but don’t let this fool you. The southern food here was absolutely great. Authentic. We met Big John and he takes pride in his food and business and the food reflects this.
