Reviews
The food was exactly what I have been craving for years. Delicious.
As a new home and business owner in the Carnegie, OK area, I’m always eager to support local establishments. Unfortunately, my recent experience at *El Charro Restaurant* was not just disappointing — it was infuriating. And I say that as someone who openly acknowledges I struggle with severe anger issues, which is why I go out of my way to be overly polite. I hold doors, I say “excuse me,” and I treat every interaction with respect because I understand my own triggers. So when someone is rude to me despite that effort, the problem isn’t mine — it’s theirs.
From the moment I stepped into El Charro, it was clear the staff had no consistency or training. Chips and salsa were included with my first order — and visibly served to other customers while I stood there. But when I politely mentioned that mine were missing, I was met with a blank stare and told, “We don’t do that here.” Mind you, I was literally watching chips being handed to other patrons. They mentioned I could pay for it. I declined, still polite, only to receive a dirty look as I walked away.
Later, I called back to speak with a manager. The same girl who gave me attitude answered — and forgot to mute the call. I overheard her speaking and realized just how little respect this restaurant has for its customers. When I finally got the owner on the phone, his response was, “Yeah, this the guy who was just in here asking about his chips?” I confirmed, politely again. His response? “This is *my* restaurant, and I’ll do what I want.” Without question of my situation or what I needed as a customer. “Amongst other rude things and his tone regardless of my being polite. I was finished with this conversation and hung up.
That kind of arrogance is unacceptable. Businesses in 2025 need to remember: *We don’t need you. You need us.* It’s the people walking through your doors that allow you to keep those doors open. And let’s not forget — the sour cream I was served was *hot and chunky.* That’s a food safety issue waiting to happen.
Needless to say, I won’t be returning. If you care about how you’re treated or about the quality of your food, you’ve been warned.
Sincerely,
A Local Business Owner & Disappointed Customer
Sometimes they have slow days (understandable) or they have busy days (also understandable), but despite that, place totally rocks.
Love the place, 10/10, would recommend.
