Our family is one of the oldest restaurant families still in business in Central Texas today, serving up homemade cuisine for more than 85 years. Family patriarch Antonio P. Castillo, Sr. started the Castillo’s restaurant legacy when he opened The Aztec Cafe in the early 1930s in downtown Waco. Antonio and his wife Josephine were blessed with seven children (four sons and three daughters), all of whom were involved in the family business at one time or another. In 1948, Antonio and his family opened a new restaurant, El Patio, located on 16th Street in Waco. Four years later, classic Italian “Pizza Pie” would be introduced to Waco for the very first time, happily made at the Castillo family’s restaurant! An Italian airman serving at Waco’s

Look, the pizza may or may not have tasted fine (not sure it was for my kid), but the fact that ANY pizza place can ever feel okay giving a slice of pizza away (that you pay GOOD money for, pricey slice) that looks like this picture, is a greedy and uncaring company. If the company is not like this, then teach the employees correctly about not giving a slice away that HALF of it (or even a portion of it, small or large, shouldn’t happen) with a air bubble that now has no cheese or sauce around it. We paid for crisp bread, not a slice of pizza. Terrible of pizza places to do this.

very yummy and fresh! Large slices that are pretty filling. I always get the margherita and my fiancé got hot honey. Both were really good!

In my opinion, this place embodies “The New Restaurant” by Malvina Reynolds. This is my second time eating here and the results are the same. This place is overpriced for the quality of food that is served. I had the 14″ pepperoni pizza and a bottle of water. The pizza dough was thin in some places and thick in others. The dough was not cooked all the way through in the places where it was too thick. The sauce was also inconsistent but not as bad as the dough. $20 in total. ~$17 for the pizza and ~$3 for a water bottle from a 7/11 case (these water bottles cost about $0.20 when bought by the case). The water cups are tiny and the fountain isn’t anywhere close to the tables. People praise Union Hall for the quality of the food but after eating here a few times I’m pretty certain Village Pizzaria exists solely to fleece the magnolia tourists and Baylor kids that won’t look too closely at the price. I’d recommend avoiding this place and suggest a place that’s actually local or just dominos.

Ordered a whole Village Throwback pizza (something between a meat-lovers and a supreme) with a couple sodas for my brother and I after a long morning watching the State Military Marching Band competition. So we were famished and that might effect my review a tad. It was one of the better pizzas I’ve ever had. I’d say the best is still way ahead of it, but it stood out above most of the other boutique pizza joints I’ve had. And I’ve had a smattering all over Texas. And usually have toppings close to what this one had. They also didn’t skimp on any of the toppings. We each saved a slice for a snack later. It tasted just as good hours later so it wasn’t entirely my hunger framing my taste.

My brother said the crust seemed a tad on the salty side, but it didn’t stand out to me. The seating was also not the most comfortable. They have some overly styled chairs that don’t seem fit for the human body. And the bench portion of the seating was not what we wanted after being stuck in stadium seats for hours.

Lots of options but settled on this place. I was not disappointed. They were really busy but the young lady taking orders was a gem. We ordered the giant slices, meatballs and the ginger brew. Everything was delicious. The hot honey was my favorite. If you like a little spice pared with a bit of sweetness this is for you. The flying pig was my cousins choice. I liked it but pulled the pineapple off. The meatballs are ample and very tasty. The ginger brew has a hint of spice and is amazing. We ate there and it was a nice little atmosphere. My rating of 4 is due to the food pickup process. They take your number but it’s not to page or call. It’s placed on the tray. I had a lady pick up some of my order because she ordered the same slice of pizza. I pointed at my phone number and she was trying to tell me she ordered hot honey. I wish they would just use an order number. Also I ordered the 4 meatballs but was initially given 3. They corrected it and handed me 4 hot meatballs. I get it. They were busy. It’s logistics and can be easily tweaked. But definitely the difference in a 3-4 or 5 rating. However it would not deter me from returning for more hot honey if I were in town.

Just don’t. Go somewhere else. We like pizza, eat it every city we go. This one broke the record and goes into the books as the worst pizza we have ever had. Reheated half baked droopy, soggy, pizza with cheese so thick it doesn’t reheat all the way. And you have to go somewhere else to get your drinks. Pack up the kids and take them with you or leave them unattended in a food court….not ideal. Eat anywhere else.

Grabbed a Stella and Supremely veggie for my new team. Great pizza and an awesome delivery from Ma. Brenda. Will be back again while in town training our new team.

Service was slow and the the pizza was wrong. The guy acted like it was no big deal that he messed up the pizza and didn’t offer a solution. The flavor was ok but the texture was not the best. The crust was a little softer than I like.

We asked for our pizza to be split half and half and the guy told us he was charging us $4.00 per topping for the 10” half. Damn near $40 for one pizza. My husband pointed out that the sign says$2 per topping. We left and listened to them laughing and mocking us. Ridiculous.
