I wasn’t in line with the current 4.5 star rating- From my experience there are way better places around from “our table to even the pizza next door” The UP Cellar tried to be a little too high class for what you get. It was overpriced, under serviced (waiters had a lack of knowledge) and even the food was not worth returning for. Our experience was noted and unfortunately in a world where one experience determines if a person will return or go somewhere else, I must say I would rather go somewhere else. Unfortunately, from this experience, there would be no way that I could refer any of my friends, family or followers to try this place I think it would be a waste of time and money. I hate writing bad reviews but a three out of five star is fair for the experience that we had – it lacked in many areas.

Up Cellar is one of the standout additions to the upgraded downtown Bargersville scene—a true speakeasy-style gem. The atmosphere is moody and intimate while still feeling warm and welcoming, and the staff couldn’t be friendlier.

The cocktails are outstanding. The Up Cellar Old Fashion is the must-try signature, crafted with Taxman-distilled whiskey for a uniquely Bargersville touch. It’s smoky, slightly sweet, and absolutely fantastic. If you’re looking for something cozy and indulgent, the Dark & Smoky is a winner—an elevated espresso martini that drinks like dessert in a glass.

We had a great time here and will definitely be back!

Came here for our 34th wedding Anniversary. Normally we go to “Our Table” just up the road but thought we’d try something new. We were the first ones in at opening and our server was also the bar tender. We ordered the oysters on the half shell. While delicious they were pretty small. For our main course we both ordered the 8oz filet mine with blue cheese hers with a lobster tail, side (for 2) of crispy Brussel sprouts. I asked to hold the mashed potatoes for both, thought the included veggies might be compensated (see photo). A different server brought out the lobster tail first and I asked for an extra butter as we were sharing it and she likes lemon in hers, I don’t. The guy said “actually if you need another one just ask and…” that’s when my wife said it’s fine (knowing I was irritated) the steaks came out a minute later than the side later. Steaks were cooked perfectly while hers was salty and mine wasn’t. Turns out the Brussels were deep fried, more soggy than crispy, didn’t think they would be deep fried. We avoid seed oils. I’ll ask next time but seems odd to soak them in grease. The server mentioned they offer them baked as well, good to know (earlier).

Overall dissatisfied with the food and left hungry. The drinks were great and the bar tender was amazing, that might be their Forte.

Compared to the magnificence of “Our Table”, “Up Cellar” falls short by miles while charging a similar price. $247 + tip $60 (not her fault).

Saying this visit was a disappointment is an understatement. My wife and I are regulars to upcellar. We’ve been coming here at least once a month for the last year. We tell everyone about upcellar. Tonight I cant believe I’m saying this may have pushed me away forever. Service as always 10-10, atmosphere is 10-10. Food 1-10. Ordered the crab dip. The crap dip itself was fantastic. The bread you dip into it was as hard and stale as a rock. Our server said the bread is supposed to be chewy. That wasnt chewy, just hard and stale tasting. Normally they bring bread (to cut costs they no longer bring bread) So we ordered and paid for their new focaccia. The bread was soft and better to dip with but not quite as good as the bread they used to bring for free. Time for the main entree. I always have ordered the new york strip. (They removed it from the menu) I figured that would be alright since they replaced it with a 16oz Ribeye (68.00) we were informed that the normal sides on the dinners which were a few veggies were removed (to cut costs) so out comes the dinner and you dont realize until you visually see it that instead of looking like a 5star restaurant with presentation it now looked less appealing than something I made in my kitchen at home. The ribeye was no 16oz. It was a thin ribeye and at least a third to half of the thin steak was fat. I would compare it to a 21.00 Applebee’s steak. (My apologies to applebees) We left and I dropped 250.00 for this dinner for two and all I felt was sad. Sad that our absolute favorite restaurant is fading away. We bought gift cards for Christmas to this place for family so they could all experience upcellar. Now I have to tell those same people what to avoid. My wife’s filet was still great as always but she said that she felt something was missing. I hate leaving this review. We were some of your biggest fans

Superb flavor on every item! From the rib eye to the brussel sprouts to the crème brûlée! Nice quiet atmosphere thus can enjoy your company without having to yell. Just be prepared for the $ $$$$. Service was attentive & friendly but not over (too much) just right! Lexi was the best. From cocktails to dessert. Supreme service.

Cheeseboard was a great idea. The prime rib was cooked to perfection. Shrimp cocktail was excellent. The portion size and taste of the crab cake were the best I’ve ever had. Zero complaints! Will definitely be returning!

Very nice place to go for a special occasion or just a nice quiet beautiful place to eat. I went for Valentine’s day with my husband and Megan was our server and she was amazing. We will request her next time we go. The drink specials were so good and the food was even better. Thank you for a great date night with wonderful service and delicious food.

Read update!!

I cannot believe this place has ever received anything less than 5 star reviews. I’ve been to all the fancy steakhouses in Indiana and this is by far the best. The atmosphere is so relaxing. Quiet, dim lighting, and such a cozy feeling. The food is ridiculously good. Steak is phenomenal. Yes it’s not as cheap as your local chilis but there’s a very obvious reason for that. Up Cellar is phenomenal and I’m so happy I don’t have to drive 40 minutes to Indianapolis for a steakhouse that isn’t even as good. I recommend it to anyone. Get the filet!! Only tip I have to the owner/management: please bring back the fruit butter! Peach was incredible. I think the customers would love an option between fruit, herb, or classic butter. I could probably spoon eat the peach butter if it was socially acceptable. I look forward to my next visit!

UPDATE! A PLEA TO THE OWNER!
As a regular of Up Cellar, please fix the changes you’ve made. The cost cuts, menu and quality changes you’ve made etc are only going to lose more customers! I rave to everyone I know about how wonderful this restaurant is, but after this visit tonight I’m second guessing on if I’ll even come back. In fact I gave a family member a gift card for Christmas that they plan on using this month, and I feel I need to warn them that it’s not nearly as good as it used to be. Any new comer wouldn’t come back for a second time. And regulars are going to notice the quality changes and pick elsewhere. Easily a $200+ bill for two people and no bread? No veggies for a side? Decreased menu options and less flavor on the 3 steaks that are available? You can’t cut costs while also increasing the price for your customers. I’d be totally fine with price increases for the customers if you didn’t take away so many things that make this restaurant stand out from the competition. Disappointed, and hoping to get back to the old Up Cellar, the better Up Cellar!!! Fix it before it’s too late. On behalf of the regulars ❤️

Celebrated our anniversary here and — WOW! Experience and service were fantastic and the food was 5 stars! Crab cakes, filet sliders, ribeye & Mac n’ cheese were perfect. And do yourself a favor and order the Match Maker made with vodka, matcha, lemonade and vanill. The BEST cocktail I’ve ever ordered. Thanks for a great experience we will be back

This is one of very few fine-dining options in the area. Expect to spend $100+ per person. While it is expensive, the overall experience was worth the visit for us. We will probably visit again on special occasions.

The lobster chowder appetizer was excellent. Our mixed drinks were well made and delicious (Gold on the Ceiling was our favorite). Both our steaks were cooked correctly. We felt the side dishes, especially the lobster mac and cheese, were a bit over priced. Our lobster Mac had less lobster than the appetizer chowder. We skipped dessert this time.
