Stillwater Bar and Grilled is located in the beautiful Beartooth Mountains in Montana, located between Red Lodge and Columbus. We strive in using locally sourced foods as much as possible, we use beef from our neighbors at the Miller Ranch and Honey from Sunshine Apiary in Columbus along with Bread from Grains of Montana in Billings. We are family friendly place with beautiful mountain views, delicious from scratch food and a full bar. We love to offer our guests a wide variety of local Montana beers and liquors. We have a wines by the glass and bottle. We also provide onsite and off site catering. If you are in search for a venue look no further! We have a barn located outside the restaurant, you can use it for baby showers, weddings, etc

My husband and I visited the Stillwater Bar and Grille during their soft opening. We made reservations, and we were welcomed by the owner at the door. The server attendant was prompt in getting and delivering our drink orders. The server was also prompt and knowledgeable with the ordering process. Each of them made menu suggestions and we could not have been happier with our choices. Chef has provided a creative and scrumptious menu….from my lobster risotto to the lemon blueberry cheesecake and bread pudding! Every single person was warm and inviting….it was easy to see that they are enjoying their jobs! It was like fine dining wrapped up in a hometown hug!

We were coming from Custer National Forest and we’re getting hungry . Saw Stillwater Bar so we stopped in. GREAT Atmosphere, Food and Service, by Jody . Definitely worth it .

While driving cross country, trying to find decent food when there’s only 1 place open in any given town and lots of distance between towns, you just don’t have high expectations…. But this place is a serious gem! Amazing staff, the food was so good we were asking them to share recipes. We were all so happy with the food we all ended up eating off each other’s plates because it was all so good. We went on prime rib night, apparently it’s a rotating schedule of theme nights. Makes me wish I lived nearby, I’d definitely be a regular.

Ate there today – for $15 you the got all you could eat salad and hamburger bar. The hamburger was huge, thick and juicy! Couldn’t eat the whole thing even without the bun! So good! ❤️. Talked to a guy who was on his 3rd burger who pointed out that it was the best bargain in Montana!

A house salad was $15 and cost $8 to add about 3oz of chicken. I opened the box while I waited for her to grab the rest of the food and I said “oh this was supposed to be no tomato” and she looked at me and didn’t say anything so I said “ok I guess I’ll pick them off” and she didn’t apologize or anything. She also told me that the dressing was “whatever the box says on top” but the box said blue cheese and it was ranch. Plus there’s a $1.50 take out fee that she didn’t tell me about over the phone. A not-so-hidden gem in the middle of nowhere!
We had the Buffalo Jump burger, artichoke dip and crabs cakes off of the menu as well as the salad bar. Everything was totally fantastic! Couple with cold beer on tap, Rombauer wines (Amazing!) and old fashioned service with a smile and I can heartily recommend them as worth the trip.

Very unexpected and awesome place to stumble across. We were on our way home from west Rosebud lake and a fun day of fishing and picnicking and our family was soooo hungry. This place had their open sign on and we went in to find a clean, well run interior. Our waitress was so sweet and helpful the whole time. The food was delicious. Great atmosphere!

Dirty dusty tabes, sticky greasy salt and pepper shakers and cloth napkins that smell like mildew turned my stomach. Dill sauce is a poor substitute for tartar sauce. My husband’s burger was raw and cold in the center when he had ordered it well done, it took 35 minutes to get our food, the employees spent more attention on the bar patrons, one stood there socializing with a couple at the bar instead of cleaning those dusty tables. I don’t recommend this place to eat.

This place seems to be pretty hit and miss. If you catch them just after truck and early enough in the shift you will probably have a great time. If you happen to come in at a different time you might get an experience that’s a little rough around the edges for those used to a corporate experience. Do yourself a favor and probably consider something else if there’s more than 2-3 tables and definitely have a drink and relax first thing. The fish and chips is pretty good and portioned well for the price.
