Unassuming destination features creative, European-inspired Vietnamese fare in a simple interior.

The food here taste excellent, even better than some of the high end restaurants we experienced at nearby Santana row, Los Gatos etc. All the dishes presentations are nicely done (we went in for a group dinner). The sea bass dish can often be mishandled in restaurants. Our two orders all came out perfectly done, crispy tops and tender inside without being undercooked, can be wonderfully pared with either black rice or Jasmin rice. The restaurant’s décor and ambiance are relatively low key and neighborhood (gem) oriented. If you care about the food taste rather than a fancy dinning environment, this place definitely gives you the bang for the buck.

We enjoyed a beautifully presented and served dinner at Elements last night (Wednesday) that would have been easily comparable to fine dining. Tristan, as always gracious and welcoming, is keeping Elements a jewel in our Valley. Please come down and support Small Business and a very hardworking member of our community for decades.
Our tasty experience!

Had our holiday company dinner this year at Elements after trying it one night just before they closed. It’s in a strip mall off of Almaden in South San Jose. But once you walk inside, it feels classy with a big glass wine cellar to the right, and an open kitchen towards the back. The restaurant is family-owned and operated. The chef and his father both work there, with possibly more family working other positions. It was packed with patrons on a Friday night.
Their fusion cuisine is quite unique in that it is more French and Western than Vietnamese. So there are dishes such as Salmon Wellington that you would never see at a Vietnamese restaurant. For appetizers we ordered fried softshell crab, spring rolls and green salad. All solid in terms of taste and freshness.
For entrees, each person at our table ordered a different dish. I ordered the Salmon Wellington, which was nicely breaded, in a plate of cream. There was a thick cheese inside the breading surrounding the perfectly cooked salmon. I tried the Australian rack of lamb, also well cooked and seasoned.
The desserts were not quite on the level of the entrees. My colleagues had to chip away at the peach sorbet because it was frozen solid. The chocolate cake was spongy and tasty, but the ice cream on top was ordinary.
The drink menu was somewhat of a surprise in that they didn’t have any cocktails. Unsurprisingly, they had a wide variety of wine and some beer, but I had expected some creative cocktails given the food menu but I guess I didn’t see a bar there.
If you happen to be on the south side and want to have a unique French-Vietnamese meal, I recommend Elements.

Neighbourhood restaurant with very nice and generous owner, use fine ingredients and his dishes are made with hearts. Desserts are fantastic too!
I do hope that they continue to be doing good in the business!

Attention to detail – other reviewers have mentioned it too. I wanted to add as a vegetarian I was blown away by the flavors that the chef was able to preserve in all the dishes (there were 3 for vegetarians – 5 if you add eggs).
We got the springrolls – were warm on the inside with the fresh cilantro and the sprouts still preserving the character. Loved the sauces. The stuffed tofu had layers of flavor, such a well done tofu dish would win fans from the never-tofu-party i’d submit.
Thanks Chef Tristan (sp?) and staff for a wonderful experience.

The food is surprisingly exquisite here and along with tasteful art work ambiance.
I had butternut squash soup, so flavorful, light and not salty. Good thing that it’s not covered with heavy cream.
Lemongrass herbs seabass is excellent. I like the fact that they even served it with black rice. Everything was prepared with much care.
Thank you to the whole Element team.
My only suggestion is to lower the noise in the kitchen. I heard as if someone was arguing. Which doesn’t create the

At first glance, the restaurant may look sketchy and may look like a smoothie shop that sells banmi sandwiches because of the outdoor seating, but looks can be deceiving. This white tablecloth ambiance is the finest Vietnamese restaurant in the area! Absolutely a delicious experience, flavors were consistently but was not boring at all. Salty and umami to the gut!Presentation wise, stunning. Flavor combinations, not shy at all. The chef knows exactly what he’s doing and has a lot more potential if he so desires it. Perfect weekend restaurant because it’s not saturated with people, noise level is kept at a minimum. My only concerns were that there was only one server staffed for the evening, making it difficult for the server to talk about wine pairings with the food. Paying attention to detail was upheld but lost as more tables had to be attended. Thank you, chef, and I will be coming back for more!

Had softshell crab, papaya salad, butternut squash soup and sea bass. All delicious and perfectly described as European Asian!

Very good service and nice atmosphere. Much nicer than your typical Vietnamese restaurant. Food was average however. A few dishes were good, like the spider spring roll and tea-roast duck.

This is a Vietnamese restaurant that serves authentic flavors but a bit more fancy than the restaurants in Vietnam town and they have a French flair to their ambiance. It was lunch time and we ordered the spring rolls, wagyu pho, papaya salad, and seafood soup noodle. The spring rolls were standard and simple. Papaya salad was heavy on the sauce so it was a little sweet. Wagyu pho – broth was good, bone marrow was good, aged filet a little weird if you want the real pho flavor. Seafood noodle – broth was good, calamari was meh, big shrimp, and pork was good. They charge a fee if you use credit card, it’s written on their menu. Pay cash if you want a slight discount. Service was great and the restaurant was very clean.
