Mustard Seed Cafe is easily one of the best casual dining experiences in Highland Square, consistently delivering food that is both well-crafted and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. It’s the perfect spot for a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner, and I highly recommend it to anyone in the Akron area looking for genuinely fresh and flavorful food.
The service model is wonderfully efficient: you order at the counter and the wonderful staff brings your freshly prepared food right to your table. The atmosphere is casual, clean, and inviting. A huge bonus during warmer months is their fantastic outdoor patio, perfect for people-watching in Highland Square!
Now, onto the stars of the show, the food. Everything I’ve tried has been exceptional. The Buffalo Cauliflower is an absolute must-try appetizer; it’s crispy, perfectly sauced, and surprisingly filling. Their tacos are vibrant and delicious, packed with flavor. For sandwich lovers, the Avocado BLT is a masterpiece of texture and taste. You can truly taste the quality in every bite.
An incredible added bonus is the drink situation: they have great in-house drinks, but you are also encouraged to bring up a beer or wine from the massive selection available in the Mustard Seed Market downstairs. It adds a unique, upscale touch to an otherwise casual cafe experience.

We found this amazing place thanks to a recommendation from a local we met at a Stan Hywet museum. We’re visiting from Florida and asked her for a local spot, and I’m so glad we did. The food is absolutely delicious and tastes so fresh. We ordered the avocado BLT, and the sourdough bread was perfectly crispy and delicious. We also had the wings as an appetizer, and my strawberry lemonade was wonderful. The flourless cake was an excellent finish to the meal. This place is a definite must-try, and I’ll be recommending it to everyone I know!

I love coming to Mustard Seed Cafe. The food is delicious (and portions are generous!) and the staff is kind. I brought myself here on a solo date recently and had my favorite meal (Strawberry Fields Salad and truffle fries) out on the deck. Enjoyed a couple of drinks too, and moved inside once the sun got too hot. Then went off to my movie at The Nightlight. Always a pleasure!

Well, I was disappointed. I’ve been here in the past, and it was amazing. This time-not so much. Staff was nice, but slow service. Food-ordered salmon tacos. I could smell the salmon as the server approached me. Not good. It wasn’t spoiled, but definitely been sitting in the kitchen awhile.
Was noisy with a lot of older drinkers. Felt like a club for older people. I’m older, so I get it. But it was only 6:00 pm. So, not excited to go back. If I do return, it will be early in the day, and I won’t order anything with fish.
There are a lot of other good choices here that I’ve had. Enjoy those if you go.

No greeting, couldn’t find a menu…eventually ordered. Given a warm strawberry lemonade that honestly didn’t taste much like either thing for a fresh ingredients type of place. The BLT was so overbuttered that I opted not to finish and the overpriced chicken we added to the salad was not cooked thoroughly. The outside seating is nice.

We stayed in an Airbnb a couple blocks away. Walked around and chose this cafe to have dinner. My son and I shared a cheeseburger Mac n cheese and fruit. The food came out quickly and it was all so good and fresh. I wish I didn’t have to share with my kid at that point I should’ve ordered more. Lol The bartender brought me 3 special sauces to try and they were so good! I also got a draft beer flight of 4 drafts for $12. They were all amazing as well. The service was superb. Someone checked on us multiple times to make sure we were good. They had a live band that was great. It was such a good vibe we may come back tomorrow!

Started out for breakfast and the restaurant we originally wanted to go to had a wait, so we decided to eat at Mustard Seed Market and we definitely made the right choice. The Huevos Rancheros with Chorizo was outstanding! The eggs were perfectly cooked and the spicy black beans added just enough kick! The tortilla was still crispy and the rest of the toppings rounded out the dish. Definitely something to keep coming back for!

Nice up stairs area that is open, select your table atmosphere. The food felt fresh and good flavors, the sweet potato pancakes were nice to try and the jalapeno pimento burger was very tasty. The beer prices are very reasonable as well, great place in akron to eat at. Also the fries, excellent!!

Came in a few different times, all has been great. I usually get the chicken sriracha sandwich and/or the avocado blt with turkey bacon. Really enjoy this place enough to drive from 40 minutes away.
