The 12th Brick Grille is one of Fort Leavenworth’s most pleasant surprises — a cozy, well‑run spot that combines historic character with genuinely good food. Housed in the beautifully renovated former USDB building, the restaurant blends modern comfort with a unique sense of place, making it an ideal stop for a relaxed lunch on post.
The menu is concise but well curated, offering fresh sandwiches, grilled paninis, wraps, soups, and salads. Portions are generous, flavors are consistent, and everything feels thoughtfully prepared. The “Jailbird” panini and the grilled chicken Caesar salad are standout options, but you really can’t go wrong with anything on the board. Service is friendly, fast, and attentive — exactly what you hope for during a busy workday lunch.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with complimentary Wi‑Fi, comfortable seating, and flat‑screen TVs that make it easy to unwind. The freshly popped popcorn is a small but charming touch that adds to the experience.
Overall, The 12th Brick Grille is a reliable, welcoming, and well‑run dining spot that reflects the spirit of the installation: efficient, friendly, and rooted

Sammiches have all been solid, freshly made. Sides are chips. Drinks are standard choices.
Plenty of seating, parking is less than ideal just like every place on Post (as one CG said, who has their own parking spot wherever they go, “we have a walking problem, not a parking problem”). Lucky for me, it’s down the street from my office.
I don’t go here often, maybe 10 times in total, it’s just handy if you forgot to pack a lunch.
I don’t give fast food places 5 stars, sue me.

Food was good, sandwich was hot and really good flavors. Neat atmosphere being in the old prison. Lots of history to see. I always eat here when I visit.

Awesome location in the old prison. I wish they advertised it more because we had no idea it was there until today.
It is more of a sandwich shop as opposed to a grill. They serve salads, soups, and paninis. We ordered the Yard Bird panini and the Turnkey panini. Both sandwiches were pretty good. Each sandwich comes with a bag of chips which is nice. With two drinks our meal came to a little over $18.
The line got quite long around 1200, so I recommend arriving closer to 1130. If we had more time here, we would go again. The photos of the paninis are only half of the sandwiches we ordered, so please don’t think the portions are small.

The sandwiches are very good for a quick bit. The services are excellent and fast. The price is very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Food was decent to good. Nice seating. Sad they got rid of the popcorn machine (yeah I know, its probably been gone a long time) Price is a little high, but convience. The chief complaint would be it was frigid inside. COLD.

We were just in town for the night and this was on the other side of town from our hotel, but the drive was worth it. We had BBQ and beer that tasted particularly good after a long day’s drive. Our server was attentive and efficient.

Excellent stop for lunch if you are on the Ft Leavenworth installation, wide variety of sandwiches, wraps, soups and salads – all made fresh. Enjoy some free popcorn as you wait for your order. They have day specials and the beef brisket sandwich is amazing. Chips come with most entrees, and there is a great selection of drinks too. Great place to dine alone or as a group. The food is excellent, never a disappointment.

Put it this way: if you’re hungry and short on time, you’ll eat it. If not, and have time to sit for your meal, you may dislike it. It’s all on personal preference but I recommend taking the 5m drive over to the Food Court or Frontier Center for lunch. There’s nothing appealing or tasty about this place. They really need to revamp their menu. I went with coworkers and we all took a few bites then threw away most of our meals.

This place has great sandwiches and I went here to have lunch every time I visited Fort Leavenworth. My absolute favorite is the Yard Bird sandwich I had it every time. The tomato soup is also very good. This place serves quality sandwiches and soups in a restaurant with character and atmosphere. This is due to how it’s located in the historic United States Detention Barracks building along with the huge old prison. It’s a really cool great restaurant with great food definitely recommend. If you visit you can also enjoy the beautiful historic housing and scenery along with the historic makers all over the fort.
