I love a good dumpling soup! Light broth, nice dumplings wrapped thin and a lot of fresh flavors married together making a perfect light lunch for me. I could eat this everyday, but I will definitely try other items. You can expect freshness and quality, fairly priced. Very friendly, pleasant staff. Clean open space. Order at the front. Drink and self service bar at the back.

Lot of great vegetarian options here! The tofu curry, broad noodle dish, and dancing tofu are all excellent choices. Everything comes with that wonderful wok hei flavor that really makes the dishes stand out. Portions are just right, and the food comes out quickly, which makes it perfect for lunch or a quick dinner. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for flavorful, veggie-friendly options!

Lúa Viet is a Vietnamese restaurant in the Heights.

I tend to go to Bellaire Blvd for all my Viet eats but wanted to try something closer and decided to give Lúa Viet a try.

You order before sitting down, and I got a phở gà and cơm gà xối mỡ.

I tried to give them some leniency because it is the one of the few Vietnamese restaurants within the inner loop, but the phở gà was the blandest phở I have ever had. The broth had no depth and lacked seasoning. They did give a large portion of noodles, which I usually prefer, but the broth was so lacking, I could not finish it. The cơm gà xối mỡ was okay.

I was really disappointed and am not sure if I would give them a try again.

I ordered beef pho but it takes more than 15 minutes to come out. There are only 3 tables who already have their foods so it wasn’t busy.

Pho is over-priced because it is small portion as picture. It doesn’t even small bowl size compare to other vietnamese restaurants. But beef was fresh.

This place is a new and modern but it is basically an upscale fast food place. Go get your own utensils and families with kids. They charged $17.99 for the Shaking Beef Bo Luc Lac. When the plate came i was in such shock that i told the guy you have some nerve to charge that price for that small portion. My Vietnamese friend said it tasted ok. She said 5/10. I did not enjpy your dumplings. This place is no different then Panda Express except here they charge more and give smaller portions.

This place is so tasty. The lemongrass tofu is a favorite. The tofu is perfectly crisp accented with mushrooms and a wonderful sauce. The chicken lemongrass bun was also very tasty with lots of fresh veggies. We will be back!

Ordered the large fried rice and added beef. Bowl was definitely large but charging $5.99 extra for the bit of beef shavings sitting on top of the rice should definitely be a crime somewhere lol. Would’ve let it pass but the beef was also EXTREMELY salty, and this is coming from someone who actually doesn’t mind some salt/seasoning. It was just way too much. I’m assuming it was a mistake but that coupled with the amount you actually get for the price you pay, is just sub par. Rice itself without the beef was good.

Full transparency the pic was taken after I ate a few pieces of the beef (maybe like 3/4) and is not the amount it came with. I’d say it was like a few oz of thinly sliced beef.

Kids love the awesome food. And they love the decor. The best fried rice. As a nutritionist I personally appreciate the locally grown foods that are mostly organic and msg free. Thank you! I would appreciate some organic wine options.

I was really excited to see a full Vietnamese restaurant open in this neighborhood to provide some variety from all the chicken, pizza and hamburger places.

I found the food to be well prepared and very tasty. The pork rolls were fried to a perfect crunch and were stuffed with a good portion of pork and other tasty and fresh ingredients . It was also nice that you can get the various rolls in a half order of two rolls instead of having the option to order a plate of four or more rolls.
I also had the beef pho which was flavorful, filling with a fair amount of tender beef slices included. However, the restaurant determines how much bean sprouts, basil and jalapeños will be added to you bowl of pho as they come already mixed in with the soup as it is served to you. I was disappointed that I was not given a separate plate of these ingredients and allowed to mix my desired quantities into the pho.

I was also surprised at the minor delay that I experienced in having my food prepared and delivered to my table. In most Vietnamese restaurants the food is served to you within 10 minutes of your order. Despite the restaurant not being busy, it took over 15 minutes to receive my food.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is open and inviting with plenty of tables and a pleasant large mural of an Asian boat at the far end. There is also outdoor seating for when the weather is nice, however, the view across the street (Durham) is a a lot full of cars for an auto dealership.
The prices were what you expect these days. My pork rolls, pho, a Vietnamese beer, and a tip ran me about $30.
