Conveniently located on the large basement floor, the Gia Ngu Restaurant is first restaurant ever, dating back to early 2000. At the time, Hanoi’s restaurant scene lacked the concept of small sized restaurants which offered a casual fine dining service and outstanding attentions to detail. Ever since its launched, this venue has been a leading trendsetter in Vietnam’s boutique dining scene.
A color scheme of steel blue and warm greys complementing dark brown dining furniture and warm lighting engender a cozy sophisticated atmosphere. Stunning city views across Hoan Kiem Lake and just 2 minutes walking, stretches of the Red River and its bridges as well as the Hanoi’s ever-expanding skyline create the perfect backdrop, particularly at night

Until yesterday, I thought Ngod vegan restaurant food in Tam Coc was the best food I ate in Vietnam. This place beat it with its sublime offerings. We ate Hanoi grilled fish and asked them to spice it up. It was delicious! Snapper in Banana leaf grilled to perfection was super delish. We all loved the food.

Attracted by the positive reviews, I decided to give it a try. The service is excellent and prompt, and the waitstaff are attentive and very friendly. I chose beef sauteed in coconut milk, presented in a very original way inside a coconut shell, which stimulated my appetite, along with fresh mango juice. The dish lacked a bit of spice, no chili, and could have been more flavorful. So, a mixed experience. Worth noting is the cleanliness and very calm atmosphere of the place, making it an excellent spot in the area to eat in peace, which is truly appreciated. The prices are more than reasonable, equivalent to €35 for 2 dishes, water, and drinks.

Silent, conditioned place in center of Old Town, with delicious food and good service. Thanks a lot! You opened to me a new page of Vietnam cuisine taste. Grilled snapper fish in banana leaves and fresh shrimps in coconut – it’s fantastic dishes, strongly recommend!!!

Gia Ngu Restaurant in Hanoi, Vietnam, offers an unforgettable dining experience that is a must-visit for any food enthusiast. During our visit, we indulged in a variety of dishes, each more delightful than the last. The Pumpkin with Shrimp Soup was a warm and comforting start, with a perfect balance of flavors. The ‘Gia Ngu’ Fresh Spring Rolls were incredibly fresh and packed with vibrant ingredients.
The highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the Hanoi Grilled Fish. This dish is a culinary adventure in itself, as you wrap the perfectly grilled fish in rice paper along with rice noodles, vegetables, and a medley of spices. It’s a dish that bursts with flavor and texture, offering a true taste of Hanoi’s culinary heritage.
We also enjoyed the Grilled Beef in Bamboo, which was tender and flavorful, and the Mango with Mint and Yogurt provided a refreshing and sweet finish to our meal. Every dish was presented beautifully and tasted exquisite. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall wonderful experience.
Gia Ngu Restaurant is highly recommended for anyone looking to explore the rich flavors of Vietnamese cuisine.

Third time’s the charm! Tried twice to have dinner at Gia Ngu’ but we were too late. Finally had lunch there and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Truly some of the best Vietnamese food we’ve had on this trip. We ordered the grilled pork, fish, and bamboo beef and they were all delicious Will definitely go back on our next trip to Hanoi.

I went to this restaurant on my last night in Hanoi, and everything was topnotch. I ordered beef stew in coconut and shrimp soup. Both were great. It may take some time to get your order, but you can rest assured that the quality is great. It is popular with both locals and tourists.

Steak to perfection.
A steak craving found us here and they did not disappoint. 2 steaks cook medium rare was mouth watering. A salmon with passion fruit sauce beautiful and a chicken and cashew nuts hit the spot. The meals weren’t large they were just the perfect serving, so you didn’t leave feeling uncomfortable but very satisfied. Beautiful little place. Thank you . Sorry no pics we just had to eat it.
