I used to order from Sonny’s BBQ about once a week for lunch, but something has changed recently. I always order my food to go, and the portion sizes and quality have noticeably declined. The baked beans used to fill the small styrofoam container; now it’s less than half full. The sliced beef has also gotten worse—there are large pieces of fat, and on my most recent visit the meat was cold.
This is disappointing, as I was a regular customer. I may give them one last try, but if things don’t improve, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere. At this point, I would not recommend this restaurant.

All I can say is WOW. Pleasantly surprised at the amazing quality of the food & the flavor. Family of 5 were all very happy at the impromptu decision for BBQ dinner in Gainesville, a we all enjoyed it very much! See you soon!

The atmosphere was lively, everyone was enjoying their food, and it was just a good time all around. Big thanks to Charles for making it right, and our server Faith was also wonderful. Passed by here the other day with my partner and haven’t had Sonny’s in a long time. The food was great and the portions were larger than I thought. Our waitress, Kayla, I think her name was, was very nice and welcoming. We definitely will be back sooner now

I love barbeque and I had the 3 meat combo I got the ribs, smoked turkey and brisket. However, the brisket was very tender not seasoned , ribs were tender but charcoal too much, and the bake beans I thought came with hamburger meat inside not flavored. I really enjoyed their toast. I give it a 3 out of 5. The young lady in drive thru was very nice showed Excellent customer service

Great service and delicious food! Loved that they had different bbq flavors at your table to try. I preferred the original and the smokey, while my sister loved the sweet sauce. The only negative for me was that most tables seemed to be benches and I would’ve preferred a seat with back support.

Delicious BBQ! We got the maple burnt ends and the chopped beef brisket. Both were good, but go for the brisket! Super tasty. Save room for the banana pudding for dessert.

We love our local Sonny’s, it’s one of those places that brings you back to your childhood. We’ve been lucky and have gotten the cutest little waitress. Wendy always has a smile on her face, and the service is exceptional. She pays attention to details and has the sweetest disposition.

Stopped at Sonny Barbecue on the way to High Springs, and wow — hands down the best BBQ I’ve ever had! The portions are massive. We split one platter with four kinds of meat, coleslaw, and beans. Absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend!
