A true gem, delivering an unforgettable Italian dining experience. The chicken Parmigiana is a crispy, golden masterpiece, perfectly paired with their homemade fettuccine. The chicken fettuccine Alfredo is rich, creamy, and downright dreamy, while the hot tender sausage and flavorful meatballs are a meat lover’s dream.
Save room for dessert… the pistachio cheesecake and Snickers pie are indulgent finales that linger long after the last bite. Add in a wonderful wine selection that complements every dish, and you’ve got something special. Don’t miss the lobster ravioli with their house pesto sauce… a decadent indulgence that transports your taste buds straight to the Italian coast. Paul’s Pasta is a premier destination for Italian cuisine and easily some of the best Italian food you’ll ever have. Every visit feels like a delicious adventure.

I recently visited Paul’s Pasta Shop and had an absolutely wonderful dining experience that exceeded all expectations. From the moment we walked in, the team made us feel genuinely welcomed—warm smiles, attentive service, and a friendly atmosphere set the tone for what turned out to be a memorable meal.

What truly stole the show was the pasta sauce. The flavors were an exquisite balance of rich, savory depth and bright, fresh ingredients—each bite felt layered and thoughtfully crafted. It was clear the sauce had been simmered with care and paired beautifully with the fresh pasta they make in-house. It’s rare to taste something that hits both comfort and sophistication in equal measure.

If you’re looking for a place with incredible pasta, a standout sauce, and warm, welcoming service, Paul’s Pasta Shop is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

Paul’s makes their own pasta. It was delicious. I had the pappardell carbonara. The pasta was perfectly cooked al dente! The views from the patio were fantastic. I would highly recommend Paul’s pasta shop!

Small, cozy place. Parking could be difficult during rush. Food is standard common pasta dishes, a bit bland for my taste, not enough sauce, no zest. However, the locals seem to like it, so that’s probably what counts. Service was slow, but no issues.

We were very surprised by Paul’s as we stopped by while passing through CT. We saw other restaurants across the river offering food for $30-50 per person, but Paul’s offered us fresh house made pasta for a much more reasonable price. The pasta itself was all good, although the spaghetti pie was a bit confusing for me, so I would highly recommend if you are in the mood for pasta, order a standard pasta dish. The pizza(bread) was good also. Their marinara has a touch of sweetness my wife enjoys. The service was excellent and they did offer us a non-egg pasta due to allergy. Inside gets hot, try to dine outside if possible, but you might need to wait a while.
Let us say that Groton the town has seen better days, but Paul’s offers excellent value and a reason to make a stop. Its a casual place which is friendly and offers hearty meals. Saving this one for any future trips in this direction.

I’m very sorry to get this place such a low rating, but as a born and raised Italian and lover of pasta, I cannot give it more than two stars.
We visited without making a reservation, and the staff was kind enough to accommodate us quite quickly. The man looked so appetizing, and the prices are really affordable.
But then it was all downhill from there …

Unfortunately, the pasta is really American and has no resemblance whatsoever to Italian traditional pasta dishes.
The “pesto” was basically plain pasta with a lot of oil, “stained” with green pesto. So little flavor!
The most disappointing though, was the spaghetti bake. It was drenched in sauce, but surprisingly somewhat dry. Not enough cheese (not good cheese at all), and a lot of pepper and the fake salame called “pepperoni”.

Finally, what really ended my chances of ever going back, was the fact that the food took a long long time to come . I understand the place was packed, but they could have at least brought us our garlic bread. Our son was extremely hungry, and start getting really fussy, and we had to ask twice to finally get it. In the end, they brought us more bread with the pasta as they didn’t realize we already received it…
They were nice enough to let us keep it, and of course, we didn’t pay for the extra bread, but still the service was not up to par.

Some Americans might enjoy this kind of pasta experience, but please do not call it Italian!

Dined here a few times over the years and my most recent visit was quite disappointing. Chicken Alfredo was good, but the pasta was hard and undercooked. Chicken was hot, but the sauce and pasta were room temp. Ravioli and sauce were completely cold. Garlic bread was good, but no longer comes with meals, so you have to purchase.
My favorite dish there was the manicotti, but they no longer have it on the menu .
Service was also a let down this time, we never got refills and the waitress was not very friendly.

This place is absolutely amazing! Some of the best pasta we have ever had! Tried multiple items on the menu! Our favorite was the chicken fettuccine, garlic breadsticks, and the sangria! Sit outside the views are amazing! Overlooking the river! Great place for an awesome night out! Highly recommend!

I come to this delightful place on the water whenever I am in town, passing by on I-95, or craving the best homemade spaghetti and meatball pasta dish I’ve ever had. From the chewy, springy texture of the noodles (which is the key feature of a fresh handmade pasta) to the simple savory marinara, there’s something to be said for doing the most basic Italian staple so well. I also usually get the chilled tuna gemelli pasta with artichokes and dill mayo or their chilled pasta trio. If you love ravioli, their meat ravioli is a dish I’m always searching for (since I’m lactose intolerant and can’t do cheese ravioli or stuffed anything unfortunately) and also hits the spot. My boyfriend loves their spaghetti pie and they have lasagna and often a shrimp with fresh vegetable white wine sauce special. The free parking lot is a plus and their outdoor patio overlooking Groton’s waterfront elevates the experience to quaint date night levels. Worth the stop if you are in the area or passing through!

I went to Paul’s Pasta 16 years later and the food is still just as good!

We ordered the homemade ravioli, meatball sub, and garlic bread. All dishes were delicious, but the meatball sub was the best I have ever had! Would highly recommend.

Our waitress was kind and very attentive. You also can’t beat the water view.
