Absolutely loved my experience at Nara Restaurant. The food was outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish we tried was packed with taste and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The service was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we walked in. The atmosphere is modern, clean, and perfect for both a relaxed dinner or a special night out. Everything came out on time and exceeded expectations. Highly recommend Nara if you’re looking for great food and a great overall dining experience. I’ll definitely be back.

First time at Nara. The atmosphere and service was fantastic! I loved the decor and cleanliness. All the staff was helpful and pleasant. I loved how they played music while you’re dining. It creates a lively mood. The food, to me, was just okay. I probably wouldn’t return to Nara for the food. I would definitely return to meet friends for drinks and appetizers in the bar area. This is a spot you should definitely try at least once!

We normally have our holiday party at Kyoto’s in Royal Oak, but since we moved our office to 12 Northwestern back in June, a coworker suggested Nara Hibachi & Steakhouse in West Bloomfield—and wow, what a great call. This place was absolutely amazing from start to finish.
The service was top-notch. Bobbi, who took care of our table, was phenomenal. Anyone who’s been to a large party knows there’s usually an automatic gratuity, and sometimes that can affect the level of service—but not here. Bobbi was on point the entire night, constantly checking in, keeping our glasses full, and staying on top of all our drink orders. She truly went above and beyond.
The hibachi chefs were just as impressive—super entertaining and clearly great at what they do. The food was delicious, and the portions were huge. Honestly, compared to Kyoto’s, the portions here were hands down bigger.
The atmosphere was fantastic, and we also learned about some great specials: half-off sushi at the bar on Tuesdays and half-off hibachi at the bar on Thursdays. I already know I’ll be back for both.
I’ve already told at least five people how amazing this place is, and we’ve officially decided this will be our go-to spot for our holiday party next year. Nara knocked it out of the park—highly recommend!

Let me be very clear: the food, service, and atmosphere were fine but the way this restaurant operates is infuriating.
They add a mandatory 20% “service fee” that is NOT gratuity. The server only gets a tiny fraction of that fee. The rest goes toward paying the restaurant’s staff (cooks, dishwashers, hostesses, etc), our waiter assured us of this. That is not transparent, and it feels intentionally misleading. Most customers will naturally assume a 20% service charge is a tip for their server.. it’s not.
I am happy to tip 20% of my bill to my server. What I am not okay with is being forced to subsidize the restaurant’s payroll through a hidden fee on top of expected tipping. Paying your employees is the responsibility of ownership, not something you sneak onto the guest’s bill and hope they don’t question.
This policy alone ruined the experience and guarantees I won’t be back. Be honest about your pricing or raise your menu prices, don’t play games with customers’ checks.
The place is not all that to be hiding fees lol

I’ve been here on multiple occasions and the service is always through the roof. I won’t lie usually when a place adds gratuity on EVERY check that scares me .. because will the service lack ? And it doesn’t. It’s literally exceptional. The vibe, music, customer service, food.. 200/10. Amazing date night choice. I love it. Thanks y’all ❣️

My girlfriend’s & I were all celebrating our birthdays so we decided to visit Nara.
The atmosphere and ambiance was very alluring and the staff were very accommodating and kind. The manager introduced himself and once he found out we were there for a birthday celebration, he had the staff sing Happy Birthday and provided us with free desserts.
The attention to detail was what did it for me and we will definitely return in the future!

I went there for my aunts birthday. We waited at least 20 mins to be seated with a reservation. We requested the covered patio, but when we were seated it was over run with gnats. Not sure were they came from. They reseated us in the dining area across from the bar. The food was good. The meat portions i thought were small. The salad was small the soup was ok. The atmosphere good. I would go back. A little pricey for me on a regular, but good for special occasions.

Celebrated my birthday here the food was amazing our server Dominick was awesome the chef Ivan put on a great show and went above and beyond to make sure we all was happy with our meals and yes we were thank you Dominick for being patient and understanding he was also friendly and fun we had a party of 12 10 sat at the grill and the rest at the bar. My birthday celebration was nice the drinks were also good they also give you a nice portion of food for the price.

We had an amazing experience at Nara! It had been five years since we’d been to hibachi, and this was such a treat. Our waitress, Olivia, was incredibly sweet and attentive, with great recommendations for appetizers and drinks. Our sous chef, Mike, put on an entertaining show and cooked everything to perfection. We would absolutely go back!
