We’ve enjoyed lunch here several times. Our favorite rolls are the TNT Roll and the Hanami Roll. But, all of the rolls we tried have been delicious. You really can’t make a wrong choice.
It’s nice to go with 4 to 6 people. You can order more variety that way, without over ordering. You have to pay for anything you don’t eat, though you can take them with you. They don’t take reservations, and they won’t seat you until all of your party are there, so that’s something to note. Mr. Tokyo’s lunch is a great deal! Enjoy!

We ate there last night and the food was fabulous. There were really large portions (so keep this in mind when you’re ordering – even the sushi are larger than expected, especially if you’re ordering the specialty sushi). The yaki udon noodles with shrimp was delicious! They gave you a nice portion of squid salad, and my wife loved the hibachi style chicken fried rice with her order. Just keep in mind that this is a order what you want kind of place, and you will need to pay extra if you don’t eat all that you order (which is a good thing to keep down waste, though challenging if you’re ordering something that you’re not quite sure that you would like to eat). The restroom is single user occupancy, so you might have to wait a few minutes to wash your hands before and after the meal. Also, the venue itself is quite small (and packed, which is a good sign that it’s good food), but we were lucky enough to be sat immediately upon arrival.

I traveled to this area last year & decided to stop by this year. Food was still good. This time we waited only 15 minutes to be seated vs 40 mins last year. The kitchen closes at 8:40p, so in order to get a fair amount, we had to rush order, which wasn’t an issue. Just be aware, that if you need to take your food w/you, there’s a $5 per plate charge which again, I had no issue with .. EXCEPT .. I ordered fried rice w/shrimp & veggies w/approximately 3 tablespoons worth of food remaining & decided to mix it in w/my 1 additional plate that was full thinking I’d be considerate so I wouldn’t hold them up from collecting the dishes since they were closing up, but Mae who was our waitress in her words said she was being nice by charging me $8 vs $10 bc I combined my [3 tablespoons ] which she considered a plate. Now thinking about it, I should’ve received 2qty to-go containers since that’s what I was charged for.

We’ve been here several times with friends & have loved it each time. Delicious sushi & good atmosphere. One of our go-to sushi spots in the Charlotte area.

Ate here on Sunday at 6pm. I can’t count how many times I have been here before. Wait was only 20 minutes for a party of 5 which was nice. Appetizers and sushi were fresh and delicious. Ratio of fish to rice was perfect as well. Service was good too.

Food was great, service was even better! My server Angelina was so polite and very thoughtful. She brought me out gluten free soy sauce without me having to ask after I told her I had an allergy. 10/10 would come again!

The food was great, but the service was VERY poor. We originally made a reservation for four people. When the rest of our group arrived, they brought their five-year-old son. We asked the staff if it was okay to include him and let them know that he would not be eating most likely. We were told this was fine and that it would only be an issue if our party grew to six or more people.
Despite this, no chair was provided for the child, and he was largely ignored. However, when we received the check, an automatic 18% gratuity was added for a “party of five.” My question is why we were charged an 18% gratuity for five people when the child was neither acknowledged nor accommodated? Again, they didn’t even offer the five-year-old a chair. The ONLY piece of food the child ate was the “dessert” which is store bought mochi ice cream with a tiny amount of whipped cream on top.
The staff was just rude in general and seemed annoyed at even just having to talk to us or answer minor questions. Having never been here before, I was not sure how the ordering worked and they didn’t explain it at all. We were charged for leftovers, which is understandable to an extent. But being small, I could not finish the one roll i ordered and I was still charged for it. We got the to-go box for it and then they tried to take it to throw away while we were still sitting there with it.
Also you have to be very careful because the floors in the restaurant are very slippery for some reason.

Mr. Tokyo was such a fun experience, especially if you love an all-you-can-eat menu. As a vegetarian, I was genuinely impressed by the variety and how satisfying everything was. Just a friendly note: they only charge a surcharge for leftover sushi (per roll), so it’s best to order thoughtfully.
My cravings were completely satisfied with the sweet potato rolls and kappa (cucumber) rolls — fresh, flavorful, and perfectly made. I followed that up with their fried rice and udon noodles, which were comforting and filling.
The sesame balls, which are served as an appetizer, are hands down my all-time favorite! Crispy on the outside, soft and chewy inside, and so addictive that I even got my husband hooked on them.
Overall, Mr. Tokyo offers a fun dine-in experience with great vegetarian options, generous portions, and flavors that keep you coming back. Definitely a spot I’d visit again! ✨
