This food is incredibly delicious. We have tried many dishes here and absolutely have never been disappointed by any of them. They are so kind and even allowed our dog to go inside to sit with us. To her credit, she’s super well-behaved and quiet. No one ever knows that she’s even there. We drive 2.5 hours specifically to go to this restaurant because we think that highly of the food and the drive is well worth it! Service is also so nice, the crew is very polite and makes us feel comfortable while dining here.

They messed up my simple ordered items. also the dishes are not true to description. i ordered chicken chinthamani- which according to the menu is supposed to be a tangy chicken with lemon. not only did i not feel any tangyness, it was just tooo spicy with a lot of dried red chillis and it was repurposed from a different chicken dish. i didn’t want to write a review- but my stomach is upset now.

Even though bay area has tons of Indian restaurants, their standards are pretty average when it comes to taste. The same can be said about this place. I went here on a weekday to try there special non veg meals and it was disappointing. There were many items but they didn’t have any taste. They should consider reducing the number of items and making fewer ones that taste good.

This places has amazing South Indian Thali both in veg and non veg. Thalis are available Monday to Friday. Weekends they have special menu where they have Big Pomfret Fry and various other fried fish. Their Nandu Masala Crab is delicious and highly recommend if you are a crab lover.
The spring Dosa, Paniyaram and Appams with different curries are great options to try

Enjoyed our dinner here. They have a very wide variety of food options in the menu from soups to desserts. The food we ordered was fantastic. The taste was so authentic and fresh food. The starter was chilli chicken, was spicy and tasty. Fish fry was delicious and well cooked. The chicken kottu parota tasted great. The ambur mutton briyani was delicious prepared in seeraga samba rice, very authentic taste. Appam with mutton curry was good too. Overall all the items we ordered was served on time, was very delicious and we enjoyed our dinner. Very friendly staff and nice ambience.

AppaKadai in Santa Clara is a solid choice for those craving authentic South Indian cuisine, especially Chettinad specialties. The flavors are bold and spicy, true to the region’s roots. Highlights include their Chicken lollipop and Chicken palipalayam, which are rich and aromatic. The biryanis are well-spiced and generously portioned, perfect for sharing. Service can be a bit slow during peak hours, but the staff is friendly and accommodating. The ambiance is casual and unpretentious, making it ideal for family dinners or casual meetups.

I have a mixed feelings about my experience. On one hand, the authentic South Indian flavors were absolutely delicious—the variety dosas, appams, flavorful chicken/fish/ veg curries and perfectly spiced biryanis were highlights. The food quality is definitely worth praising!
However, the service was extremely disappointing. The staff seemed unattentive, ignored requests for water and and our orders took way too long to arrive—even though the restaurant wasn’t very busy. It was too hot inside as no fan or AC were turned on.

Good spacious restaurant. They have varieties in the menu. To select dishes from the huge menu is a challenge itself. The food was average south Indian restaurant standard quality. The muttom kheema appam and filter coffee were better.
The service was okay. It takes 10-15 mins to get your order on weekdays. There is a lot of parking available outside. Usually busy on weekends as they have Apni Mandi next to the restaurant.

I love coming here to try appam with a curry, recently I came with my family and ordered Gobi Manchurian and garlic chicken fried rice, everything tasted great. I do wish they offered free chai tea like some other restaurants. They have fish fry on the weekends, which is yummy!

This is a chain restaurant a lot it vegetarian options, the staff and service is just about average.
The food however is so gassy and will leave you with a bloated stomach for hours.
Really not good.
About the quality of food, it’s so below average for vegetarian options the cauliflower Manchurian was so badly made, barely any taste when I asked so some ketchup, the staff says no we have no ketchup I was like WTH.
The veg kurma was equally bland it didn’t have salt or any spice and when I told the staff about it, the excuse was oh most Americans don’t eat spice, I was left wondering if Salt is spice? When I asked her about Salt the staff was clueless.
The table ethics are so bad, there is no salt pepper on the table.
Terrible place to be at. I am never go to this place again.
