This place opens at 10.30 and is 75% full by noon!
Quick, tasty, convenient buffet.
I hadn’t been here in 7 years. It is still like I remembered.
I read some seasoning complaints. It is a BUFFET, an American buffet. It is not a soul food or “ethnic” buffet.

There are 5 buffet counters:
2 hot rows- protein and sides
1 hot row- soups, rolls/ cornbread
1 cold row- desserts and fruit
1 cold row- salads and salad toppings
*Vanilla ice cream machine, by itself

One adult for lunch will cost $13 and change WITH water!
(You can cash out your tip for the server against your debit card total, if you happen to be cashless)
The “server” gets your drink refills and clears your plates

Personally, I think the flavor and value meets the quality point for this buffet. It appears to still be a favorite, based on the amount of traffic I saw at noon!
Overall, it is cheaper to get a meat and sides here then choosing a diner. And you still have the salad and dessert bar!

There is plenty of seating, with booths along the outer walls and tables closer to the center. They also have Private party rooms for your special occasions.

I don’t like leaving low ratings; I understand that it is someones livelihood. That being said, the food here is not good.

Me and two coworkers went here for lunch to mix it up and try something new. When we walked in, the hostess rang us up as a party even though the first guy said he just wanted to pay for himself; whatever, we sorted it out among ourselves later.

There is a buffet that serves southern food. Fried chicken, fried catfish, baked chicken, spaghetti, liver, dressing, mashed potatoes etc. Also offer a salad bar.

The food was criminally underseasoned. Everything needed salt – I’m not sure if they keep it saltless to cater to the older people who make up the majority of their customers or what. Tried a lot of stuff looking for good food and I didn’t find much. Fried chicken had too much breading, the breading tasted unseasoned. Dressing was very dry and had a consistency of cornmeal, you touched dit and it broke apart. Mashed potatoes were definitely instant mashed potatoes and not a good brand. Spaghetti sauce had a little meat in it, but tasted like stewed tomatoes. Cornbread was dry and unsweetened. Roll was OK. Green beans casserole was good. Coworker said liver and boiled cabbage was good, said catfish was bad and “none of it was great”. Salad bar looked fresh. Another coworker had asked us to bring her back some dessert: when I sent her a picture of the desert bar, she changed her mind.

They serve Pepsi products and offer sweet tea. Waitress was nice and we had pretty decent service. Buffet areas was kept clean and stocked at all times.

Would not return.

For a country buffet this was pretty good. Lots of selections to choose from. The fried chicken is crispy but not well seasoned so plan to add a bit of salt. The green beans, field peas, pinto beans and collard greens are tasty and seasoned well. The mashed potatoes and brown gravy was delicious. There’s an ice cream machine along with cakes for dessert. The waitress who took care of our table was kind and did a great job. The price is reasonable and note that ages 60 and above qualify for the senior discount.

We found this place about two years ago and every time we are in the area it is THE place we go to eat. If you like good southern home cooking you will enjoy the food for sure (I swear they have my mawmaw back there cooking the pinto beans). The building is old. Fixtures are old. Service is good. But the food is spot on.This particular visit was at 4:30 in the afternoon and the food was fresh and hot.

“VERY GOOD!”
Yesterday (Sunday, June 30, 2024) I dined at Kacey’s Home Cooking, a buffet restaurant on South Parkway, in Huntsville, Alabama. Many months ago, I was a frequent customer of Kacey’s, but–to no fault of their’s–I’ve not eaten there very often lately.

Nevertheless, Sunday’s buffet did not disappoint. It was very good. As usual, there was quite a variety of different dishes to choose from. I was very pleased with everything that I selected that day.

I’d like to give a special “shout out” to Josephine, our server, who did a fantastic job. And, compliments to everyone involved in preparing and providing such a wonderful dining experience.

Sincerely,

G. Curtis

I recently visited Kacey’s Home Cooking and found the experience to be average overall. The buffet is on the smaller side, and for what’s offered, the price felt a bit high. That said, the food was served hot, which is always appreciated at a buffet-style restaurant.

Food Quality

The selection leans toward classic Southern comfort dishes—fried chicken, greens, and other staples. While the items were fresh and warm, most of the food was noticeably under-seasoned. The quality was acceptable but not particularly impressive, especially given the price point. Guests looking for bold flavors or a wide variety may be disappointed, while those wanting straightforward, traditional Southern items may find it more suitable.

Service

Service was the most underwhelming part of the visit. The restaurant wasn’t busy, yet our drinks sat empty through most of our meal. We eventually had to flag someone down for a refill, which shouldn’t happen in a lightly occupied dining room. The service wasn’t rude, just inattentive and below expectations.

Atmosphere & Value

The atmosphere is simple and unpretentious, in line with a casual home-cooking buffet. However, the limited variety and lack of seasoning made the overall value feel weaker than comparable options in the area.

Final Thoughts

Kacey’s Home Cooking wasn’t a fit for me personally, and I don’t plan to return, though I don’t regret giving it a try. I have friends who enjoy this place, so it’s possible my experience was simply an off day. If you’re looking for a small, straightforward Southern buffet, you may find what you’re after—just don’t expect much variety or standout flavor.

As I read the reviews of Kacey’s Home Cooking, I was a little skeptical about trying it out, but you know what they say, YOLO. As I walked into Kasey’s, I was greeted and sat immediately. Very convenient. The buffet was a bit bigger than expected and the food did not disappoint. It reminded me of my Nana’s home cooking. So here’s an example of don’t judge a book by its cover and don’t believe everything you read online. (Exept this post) but overall Kacey’s is a 9.5/10.

Very good food. I was full.
Country cooking. Ok service. Will go back. Went back on the 9/22/24– was horrible. Will not go back. I m changing the stars to 1 star. Only because the sales was ok. I can say the literally took the bulk cans of veggies n poured it out n put it on buffet. No effort. No seasoning. Nothing special.” No I do not want to hear the excuse new staff in back” = there is a recipe to follow new employees or not! It’s absolutely poorly made.

My husband and I visited a long with a couple of friends. The food was ok for the most part but the fried green tomatoes were the highlight for me! In fact, we all loved them!
My husband and the other couple enjoyed the food a little more than I did.
The price was reasonable. Four senior buffets and four waters cost us $55.59.
Would I return to eat here? Probably not. But if I did, it would be for those spectacular fried green tomatoes!

Food was fresh. Not sure why I haven’t stopped here before. I enjoyed the chicken fried steak. Lots of different food to choose from. I’ll definitely be back.
