I found myself here for lunch on a weekday. It wasn’t real busy at 11:30. I tried the Louisiana Sampler and found the fish to be good with a nice crispy batter. The shrimp were small, but came butterflied and were tasty. The hush puppies had a good buttery flavor and the boudin balls had the right amount of spice. The fries were okay but there were way too many. I would most likely come back and try the blackened fish.

Kinda a half Cajun, half Southern home cooking. We had some fried green tomatoes, red beans and rice, and onion rings. They were all good, probably some of the best onion rings I’ve had in a while. Wife had the Pecan Orleans catfish with shrimp, spinach, and creme sauce topping. It was tasty and minimally spicy, probably 2 notches below what you’d experience in New Orleans. I had the fried catfish and shrimp. The shrimp were butterfly style and quite tasty. Catfish was good Southern style. We also had the blackberry cooler. It was good but not great. A lot of breading and not as many blackberries as a Marie Callender’s from the HEB. The decor was quite enjoyable; they have a few old antiques around the place, which is quite remarkable.

Boudreau’s offers good, fresh food in a great, clean atmosphere. Visited at 7pm on a Saturday, and surprisingly, it wasn’t crowded at all. The French fries could use more crispiness, and portions felt a bit small overall. Still a solid spot for a casual meal!

First time here and I was a bit confused as if I should sit myself or walk to the counter. No real direction. I walked to the counter and asked to be sitted at the bar. The restaurant is a decent size with a full bar. After being seated service was fast and productive. I ordered almost everything on the menu. Chicken and shrimp gumbo, fried alligator and tomatoes. I can say you get your money’s worth here. Prices are fair. I will say the flavor is there for the gumbo but the roux doesn’t give gumbo flavor to me. The fries alligator had great flavor. The tomatoes aren’t the best I’ve had but still ok.

If I review it, it’s all true. So let’s get into this – customer service is actually good. Drinks are alcoholic, strong, and prices are affordable. So let’s get into the food. Being that I’m from South Louisiana, anytime I see Cajun Louisiana dishes, I know I’m in for disappointment. First thing I ordered, gumbo – that’s a no, hell no. I know everyone makes it different, but that’s vegetable soup. Secondly, we tried the catfish, which might be the best in Houston. This ain’t fake catfish, it’s real catfish. Then we tried Chicken Lafayette, which was amazing. Overall I would return 8/10.

Ordered: Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya
Price $16.75
A bit too oily, with some small pools forming on the rice. But other than that, everything was well seasoned. The chicken was juicy, the sausage had a nice kick, the garlic bread was soft, and the rice was fluffy (for the most part, with the exception of the parts that were submerged in oil). Ordering at the counter was easy, unlimited refills, and food was out within ten minutes. Overall, solid place and had some food leftover for later.

One of the cashiers was angry because I confronted her about about taking a buzzer off the table while I went to the restroom so I told her just keep it just call me when the food is ready so apparently she got irritated and I heard her saying oh I don’t have time for this type of drama today, so I let that go so when my food got ready, she yelled across the room hey your food is ready. I said ma’am, I don’t have to patronize your restaurant. You can give me a refund right now whatever you want. I don’t make me no difference whether you eat I will not patronize any business that have people employed with that type of attitude. Best of luck to you at, Boudreau.

was racially profiled by the “bartender” who made my drink completely wrong tasted like pickle juice, the manager had to come fix it. When I first walked in, I asked to sit at the bar I was told I had to pay first even before sitting at the bar like… didn’t even get a chance to look at the menu or anything. Two other gentlemen walked in. They were treated completely different, didn’t have to pay first … I reported the issue to the manager Who was very sweet and understanding . Gumbo was warm and not hot or fresh. Unacceptable. If that is a standard it should be held towards all customers. Never going back.
