Long-running family-style Chinese eatery featuring hand-pulled noodles & housemade dumplings.

Its been years since Ive eaten here. Last time I recalled I had their outstanding peking duck. This time, I gotta tell you, the three entrees I ordered was exceptional cuisine. I ordered Beef Sichuan, Mongolian Beef and Mooshu Pork.. I added extra beef on the beef dishes. The flavor was savory and the spices were balance with unami. The beef was so moist and succulent, each bite I was gunning for another. So flavorful and delish! The interior design is very cozy and the lighting is great. The service is stellar and friendly. Im now addicted to the beef dishes. This is the best High quality Chinese cuisine. Everyone has to put this spot on their weekly togo or dine in.
Prices are great for the high quality. They dont cut corners.

Neighborhood gem and probably the best Chinese food I have had in DFW.
The reputation does not disappoint. The dumplings and hand made noodles were out of this world. The sesame balls dessert was unique and yummy! The place gets super busy and does not accept reservations. The service is just OK. Definitely will return to try other dishes!!!!!

Royal China is always delicious! They have an excellent lunch menu with specials. Specials include rice, soup and an eggroll. The veggie dumplings were exceptionally good. We got the Jasmine tea. It came in a lovely pot. Our server was fabulous! I am making plans to go back!

Apparently this place has quite a history, a Dallas pedigree of sorts, and they are “famous” for their dumplings. But I just don’t get it. Not worth the wait or the price.
The best thing by far was the Sichuan spicy fish. I ate the whole thing with no rice, I was just loving the spice and the flavor on this.
The rest of the food was not good. Egg rolls were mostly wrapping and grease. The famous dumplings were fine. I had one of each (veg, shrimp, pork, and chicken). Good but not memorable. Chicken, asparagus, and king oyster mushroom – everything was cooked okay, but it was so bland. Crispy pork tenderloin was the same – cooked well but no flavor.
And the scallion pancakes… I am so offended by the horrible scalllion pancakes that were not scallion pancakes. Scallion pancakes are more like crepes. Delicate and light and a little savory. These were some kind of thick deep fried thing made to suit American tastes. I am still mad about it.

First and last time visiting Royal China.
The restaurant itself was clean, but we repeatedly had to send back silverware and glassware—either there were random objects floating in my drink or smudges on the utensils. It was disgusting.
Service was just okay. Nothing to brag about. Our server would disappear for long stretches, and we constantly had to ask other staff members to track him down. It was frustrating.
The food was simply bad. I can’t dress it up—it was gross. My husband liked a couple of items, but for the most part, we forced ourselves to eat what we could since we had paid for it. Much of it didn’t taste fresh, as if it had been sitting out before being served. The flavors were harsh, and the smell turned my stomach. The only thing I somewhat enjoyed was the scallion pancakes.
We won’t be back.

Its hard to find great Chinese food until I found this place!!! The service was great which matched the atmosphere. I ordered Crab Ragoons and was shocked to see the size of them things! And they tasted amazing. I ordered the KAO CHICKEN w fried rice and an egg roll that was huge as well. The meal was fantastic and I very much look forward to returning.

How this place has over 4 star rating is beyond me. Food was disgusting. Lo-Mian had a weird taste. The “crispy duck” was not crispy and also tasted off, no one ate that and it was $31. The “egg roll” had no egg, the smallest about of minced meat but ALL THE CABBAGE THEY COULD FIT INTO A ROLL. The highly rated Dry-Stirred Beef was soggy and tough. I added a side of hot mustard for $1. I would had ordered more sauces if I had known they wouldn’t include a single one. No soy sauce, duck sauce, nothing. Such an expensive meal for hardly anyone to eat. Oh and I paid $2 EXTRA for more broccoli in the sesame chicken and they added it to the same container as the rest of the meal. Basically I got more broccoli that I paid extra for but this apparently meant I got less chicken in the meal due to this. Would not recommend and will not order from again.

Had a good lunch at Royal China. I had high expectations as I’ve been to Asia numerous times. It’s decent food. Price is normal for this area in Preston Hollow. Service was good but not stellar. Waiter had too many tables. He was kind. I had the shrimp dumplings to start. They were excellent and only $12. I had a raspberry mule to drink that was also great. Then for the entree I had General Kaos chicken. It wasn’t super hot when it came to my table. It also wasn’t spicy. I had to request more chili oil. The lunch entree was mid, decent but I’ve had better. If I return, it will only be for dumplings.

Not sure how this place doesn’t have 5 stars! This is hands down the best Chinese I’ve had in Dallas. We LOVE the General Kao’s shrimp (and chicken!), and the soup dumplings are 10x better than the regular ones! This place is a staple if we are looking for quality takeout and especially if we have friends in town.

While traveling through town on a road trip we were able to get in just under an hour before they closed and the place was full. They had no issues seating us right away, service was quick and so friendly. We were still out by closing. The crab rangoon was the biggest I have seen and so delicious. The egg rolls were amazing in that they are just like you would expect but instead of greasy or frozen, everything was super fresh and delicious. I got sesame chicken which was made to order and literally melted in my mouth. I was able to choose light or dark meat and chose dark. It tasted a little different than most sesame dishes but in the best way. Husband got the yellow curry and loved it. The side of fried rice was on point as well. The portions are big, so I brought them home and leftovers were great. I have saved the location as a favorite so any time I am going through I can find it again. I also texted my local friends to insist they go there as well, regardless of how far they have to drive. 🙂
