Sushi rolls are great. Chicken Karaage is fine with super small portion. The chicken katsu w/ pasta is a big disappointment. The katsu is basically tasteless (I confirmed that it’s by design), with just mediocre spaghetti.
Regarding the service, seems that they’re super understaffed. It took 40+ minutes to get the food and we could barely grab the server.
If they cut the price by 50% I’d say it’s fine. But currently it’s quite overpriced. There’re quite some restaurants that offer better food and service and vibe with lower prices.

10/10 experience! The server Pete was awesome and he provided super fast service. I started the night with a delicious lilikoi martini. Then the appetizers came out, both phenomenal! We had the dynamite shrimp and the Kara’age chicken and loved both! Then chef Chris delivered our sushi to the table which was the Emperor’s roll and the Tsunami roll…. SO GOOD! For our entree we chose the sizzling ribeye which came with an out of this world Truffleyaki sauce wow wow wow! You will not be disappointed!

Wow!! the food at Kenichi is AMAZING. Every piece of sushi I had was so fresh and perfectly done, you can really tell the chef is highly skilled. Best sushi on the big island for sure!! Even without photos, trust me, it was that good. My entrée was the scallop and prawn risotto and it was incredible — rich, flavorful, and honestly just yum yum yum. Everything we tried hit. I will 100% be back.

lady at Costco recommended this restaurant so bought a $100 gift card. was very disappointed. called several times to make a reservation, no one picked up, so we decided to drop in. portions were tiny for the price. only dish we really liked was the cod. it was buttery and melted in your mouth. for $20, the rolls only came with a few pieces and it was mediocre at most. they also forgot our sashimi dinner yet and gave it to another table. gave us complimentary miso soup as an apology, but it was extremely salty. felt like a msg packet. after getting the sashimi, they also forgot the rice and had to remind them again. won’t be returning.

Excellent food. Surf and turf and poke were our selections. Steak was so tender you could me cut it with a fork. Poke was fresh and flavorful. The poke sauce had a bit of an orange flower to it.

Cheap, but we ordered good during happy hour, and never got it. Waited over an hour. The sushi came, the drinks came, but the main dishes and our appetizers never came. Seemed under staffed.
The food we did get was amazing.
Sign said wait to be seated, after 10 minutes of waiting, waitress said happy hour is seated yourself. That’d have been nice to know.

STAY AWAY. To be fair, this started as a 3 star review and I now wish Google allowed 0 stars. None of the websites or menus online are valid or accurate so you can’t easily call in a to go order. We drove there to view the menu and have takeout back to our resort. We arrived to a fairly empty restaurant and were told to sit at the bar to order our three sushi rolls. We were clear to the host and bartender that we were ordering to go. The bartender was attentive and got our order in right away and provided some ice waters. The manager checked in on us a few times and we mentioned that we’re just waiting on our to go order. Fast forward 40 minutes and we mention to the manager that we were still waiting on the to go and he mentions he finished it a while ago. After a minor glitch of him making an ice water he casually mentioned he’d go grab our order. Our to go order was sitting at the host stand for at least 15 minutes if not longer based on how cold it was and no one mentioned a thing. I wish I navigated to the nearest gas station for sushi, I would’ve had the same service and it probably would have been cheaper.

Happy hour from 430 to 6. Half price sushi and they are the full size rolls. We tried about 8 different one and they were all good.
A couple snags on the order but the new GM was here and right on top of everything.
But then… The bar tender, who was also out waiter took forever to bring the ticket. Had to ask for it 3 times. Then came back and said they didn’t have the right change for our cash payment and that they only had $5 out of the $15 in change due. Felt like he was trying to scam and extra tip by leaving it hanging like that. Then it still took another 20 minutes to get us out change while he was going around and serving other customers drinks and food.
