Solid lunch place. The hamburger was recommended to me but I’m not going to. It was a burger you could get at any ballpark concession. I wish I had of gotten one of the many other delicious looking plates on the menu but I was with a client that apparently doesn’t know what a good burger is or doesn’t really like me

$22.08 for a cheeseburger and onion rings seemed a bit excessive to me, but I was advised to go there by an AA friend who grew up in the area. 25 minute wait to be seated, so got it to go. Maybe there was a To Go charge? The burger and rings were good, nothing over the top, but not $22 good! Have had better for half the price! Would rather have 3 In n Out Double Double’s and a fries for the same price!

This beauty from Litton’s is a masterclass in classic diner burger execution. The golden hue of Litton’s famous soft, slightly sweet homemade bun encapsulates a generous blanket of house made pimento cheese, a tangle of caramelize onions that glisten with sweetness and a perfectly seasoned beef patty. Crowning the whole composition is a spear-skewered jalapeno, adding that essential mild heat to cut through the richness below. Their house made chili is a perfect addition on a brisk autumn afternoon. Everything about this plate screams old-school southern comfort done right. No pretense, no unnecessary flourishes, just quality house made ingredients prepared with care. This all shows that Litton’s has been perfecting their craft for years. If you’re rolling through Knoxville, Litton’s isn’t just a must stop shop. It’s a pilgrimage to the kind of honest, soul-satisfying joint that seems to be disappearing from the American landscape. This is the real deal.

What a fantastic old school eatery, bakery, and market. The food was fantastic, the service outstanding and the atmosphere dripping with nostalgia of days past. We found this place on Google maps, loved the pics and simplicity of the menu and decided to give it a shot for dinner. We were immediately impressed with the operation! We had onion rings as a starter, my wife had the Thunder Road Burger (had jalapenos and in house made pimento cheese) and I had the chop steak dinner. We finished with key lime pie and a piece of German chocolate cake. We will be back next time we’re in town! Everything was excellent with attention to detail and precision!

Litton’s was recommended to us and I can say that this institution is a gem. Excellent burgers. Delicious baked goods. Easy going family friendly atmosphere. Our server, Caitlyn, was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt. It was so good we came back. Can recommend highly.

I was served by a nice older gentleman who was very attentive and made sure I had drinks and sauce for my rings. The onion rings were the star of my meal. Good breading, not greasy, and the onions were thick enough that they required some bite to get through them. My burger was cooked well and American cheese is always an excellent option for a burger. However, the meat was not seasoned at all. For $20 I definitely expected more out of the burger. I’d definitely swing in again if I’m ever back in Knoxville. I didn’t try any desserts this trip!

We really wanted to like it. We did, but we were disappointed in everything we had. The food wasn’t nasty. It just wasn’t great.

So let’s talk about the food and service…

Food:

Fish Dinner (Boston) The fish was fresh tasting, so there no complaints. But it had 0 seasoning, and the breading was more of a cornmeal texture. So now it’s just an unseasoned grainy bite. I didn’t enjoy it. I had to use …. hold your pearls… ketchup to add flavor.

Onion rings were ok. They tasted like the grease was old and again no seasoning. Yep, ketchup again.

The chili was like a Cincinnati/stew hybrid. Lots of flavor, but too much chili powder, and a bit greasy.

My wife had the fish sandwich. Yeah, you guessed it. She said it didn’t have any seasoning.

I’m Irish, I like my fished seasoned and fried in beer batter. But I’ll eat it any style as long as it’s seasoned. I should taste salt, lemon, and herbs in the batter.

Service:

Our waitress was sweet and attentive. She suggested the burgers, I guess we should have listened.

Price:

$50 for unseasoned fish that I could have gotten in a pub… I consider overpriced. We will go again, and try the burgers and sweets. But the fish is off the menu.

Pros: Big selection, friendly staff, clean

Cons: Price, unseasoned fish, parking

The cake here was amazing. The icing tastes just like my grandmother’s. The food was a bit hit/miss. The fish was good. Our burger was undercooked, and my husband was disappointed his chili burger came with the chili on the side. It was neat seeing their history on the walls and tables. The staff the staff we encountered were nice, but we saw what seemed like regulars having wonderful interactions with staff.

When we visit the Knoxville area we always make a stop at Litton’s. We love the friendly atmosphere, great food and amazing desserts.

We recently stopped in on the 29th of October 2025 and had Jerri K. as our waitress. She was friendly, kind, funny and expected every possible thing we needed.

Both my husband and I had burgers. The burgers are fresh and the handmade buns are so good. The fries are hot and crisp with great flavor. The servings are just right and they give you all the fixings. We also opted to take a piece of their amazing white chocolate pumpkin cheesecake which was incredible.

All of these positives being said the price seems to have risen quite a bit. It’s been about two years since we were there last and we were surprised at the price increases. $17.00 for a cheeseburger and fries, 8.95 for a slice of dessert is pricy but we don’t eat out much so possibly this is the norm for all restaurants.

Overall, it’s a place you don’t want to miss because the food and service is incredible but if you are wanting a lower priced option just something to consider.

Visited on 1/17/26. Absolutely a wonderful experience! I didn’t stick a fork in anything that wasn’t absolutely delicious! I ordered the Ribeye steak and it was the best steak I have had in a long time. Grilled perfectly, medium rare, outstanding flavor! Other steakhouses need to take note! I ordered the greens and baked sweet potato as my sides. My wife ordered the Fish burger with coleslaw and baked sweet potato. We topped it off with a shared piece of strawberry cake. One of our best dining experiences in a while!
