Bring an appetite. If you can get by the first course of things included enough to order more.. all the power to you. they give you plenty of food at sitting down to stuff you. the sushi rolls are huge for one person. the hot pot, well, you take some of everything and before you know it, you’ve over stuffed your first serving. my hot plate was crooked and it kept spilling out, so that wasn’t fun. they should fix that. the flies in the place are fun either. they really try to kill them, but they’re everywhere which tells me something else about the kitchen (of you know, you know). otherwise though, the meal was decent. the nickel/dime of $5 for a take home even when you didn’t order past the first serving was annoying. Watch you bill.. $3 for a can of soda… things add up quick. we had the tonkotsu and miso broths. both were good. they do a good job of watching out for your dietary restrictions (GF in our case). I’d come back, but I’d operate differently, avoiding fillers like noodles and rice. the conveyor belt is cool if you have room. Also, the 90 mins goes by fast.. cook and eat fast. be efficient.

I’m not sure how this place has such good reviews. We go to the chubby cattle and their other restaurants in SoCal very often and this one does not compare to the ones out in SoCal. Management needs to check up on them. Their sushi was below average… they do not use sushi rice… and if they did, it was very bad mushy flavorless rice. The meats were not great quality. Maybe we came on an off day. There was also a roach that maybe came on an off day crawling on the glass where the revolving sushi was. The host gave us 20% off after we showed her a picture of it which was nice. We would not come back though

I had so much fun at Chubby Castle! For a minute though, I was a bit overwhelmed by the options and activity. Hotpot, bbq, rolls, a lot going on. But I settled in and started crushin’. Lo and behold I over did it but, I enjoyed every minute of it. I wouldn’t recommend it for a first date joint because there was no talking (unless you speak nom-nom!) and we left smelling like bbq meat ! We’ll see you again Chubby Castle!

This place used to be fantastic and I’ve visited atleast a dozen times. Today’s visit was terrible on both the food and customer service front. Despite the restaurant being completely empty at noon, the staff (mainly the girl working) was just straight up rude and acted miserable. I get hating your service job but don’t take it out on customers. The food itself was also disappointing, despite paying the full price because it’s Friday, we were served 3 tiny pieces of meat on our first round. I couldn’t believe it. Thank god it’s AYCE but I guess they’re dialing back to avoid food waste? The sushi also tasted incredibly stale. You know when you eat questionable sushi and you think, “good god just let me not get sick or a tapeworm”? That was today’s $90 lunch. I won’t be coming back again, which is sad because this place was amazing. I guess i understand now why we were the only people eating there.

Worst experience ever – FOUND A FLY IN MY FOOD!
I am absolutely disgusted. I found a dead, cooked fly in my hotpot after I had already eaten half of it. I feel sick to my stomach just thinking about it. Instead of taking full responsibility, the staff tried to blame the vegetables and only offered a measly 10% off the bill. This is unacceptable and unhygienic. The management here clearly doesn’t care about cleanliness. Save your money and go somewhere else where they don’t serve insects in the soup. Never again!

Wow… Just turned around and walked out of this restaurant after learning the price of lunch was $40 no exceptions. First off, no one greeted me when I walked in, in fact a server walked by me almost walking into me without even looking at me. I waited five minutes before another server greeted me, there were only 4 lunch customers. The front area inside is about four feet wide and cramped. The outside has filthy, broken tables turned over and there’s trash bins too near to the awful seating area outside. Just get rid of those tables already! There’s a seriously funky smell when you walk in and the sushi on the conveyor belt looks grey. I was certain I was not going to eat there, but wanted to know the cost. I was floored when the server told me $40 for off smell, off atmosphere and icky-looking sushi. I’m curious what their business model is and how they’re able to survive – maybe because their Friday and Saturday night volume, who knows. Maybe they jacked their prices up to “save the restaurant” rates? Are customers so tuned into the hot pot theory and the society of it that they don’t care about the smell, atmosphere or lack of freshness? That’s the only thing I can think of. $40 for lunch is astronomical and should never be normalized at any dive bar. Would not recommend.

Worst money I’ve ever spent on an AYCE joint. The concept seemed unique at first: a place that offers you unlimited conveyor belt sushi, rolls, sashimi and on top of that you can choose bbq and/or hotpot. But ultimately I just fell for a place that take advantage of their diners by serving half assed food because it’s AYCE. I ordered a roll with tempura shrimp inside then another one with crunchy rice. Both tempura and crunchy rice were completely stale, tasted like pieces of cardboards and probably weeks/months past expiration date. I did not order any more sushi after that. The hotpot broth was the worst tom yum I’ve ever had. Zero flavor. The hot pot station was set up in the middle of a walkway which makes it difficult to access. Waited for an hour for this very disappointing experience.

I come here all The time and it is so much fun. I’ve came here for birthdays, dates, and just a casual lunch with my girls. I would 100% recommend this place. The food is always delicious and the customer service is great.

Solid AYCE hot pot spot on Broadway. Good broth options, quality meats including Wagyu tiers, fresh sushi rolling by on the belt. Service is attentive, vibe is loud and fun. The 90-minute limit keeps things moving. Worth the price if you’re actually going to eat. Not the move if you want a leisurely dinner – this is a sport.
