Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn’t help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we’re still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.

Subject: Consistent Lack of Professionalism and Poor Customer Service
I am writing to share my disappointment regarding my visit to the Whataburger located at 1198 Yarbrough (#656) on February 22nd at approximately 10:13 AM. While I enjoy the food at this chain, the repeated poor service from a specific employee has become impossible to ignore.
During this visit, I was served by a cashier named Ashley R.This is my third time I am attended by this employee and her character has not changed at all, it actually was worse today. After receiving a medium sweet tea that was unsweetened, I politely asked if I could exchange it for a Coca-Cola. Rather than a professional acknowledgment, I was met with a visible look of annoyance and silence. When I thanked her for the exchange and explained the issue with the tea, she responded by rolling her eyes and giving me a derisive smirk.
Key points of concern:
Repeated Behavior: This is the third time I have visited this location and encountered the same negative attitude from this specific employee.
Lack of Basic Courtesy: At no point during the transaction did the cashier offer a greeting, a “thank you,” or any form of professional communication.
Unprofessional Demeanor: Rolling eyes and smirking at a polite customer request is unacceptable in a service-oriented environment.
I believe in supporting local businesses, but the “front of house” experience should reflect the quality of the brand. I hope management addresses this recurring issue with the staff member involved to ensure a more welcoming environment for future guests.
Thank you
The fries are a hit or miss but most often than not they taste good. Or you can substitute the fries for onion rings. They are delicious!
We can choose a shake instead of tea or a soft drink to go along with your meal. I like that option.
As far as the atmosphere inside, it’s always clean and employees are friendly. I love Whataburger!
11/08/25 update…
Went back cause I was starving. Figured it couldn’t be worse, it was. The patties were so cold and hard I couldn’t even finish my one and only bite. Very disappointing.
amount of time for our food (I thought) and they were so apologetic for the wait, they gave us coupons for
free burgers. The manager was outstanding and demands respect and perfection from his employees. They were also über conscientious about CoVid.
