Non-attentive service. The waitress wasn’t mean, didn’t have an attitude or anything like that. She was just completely non-attentive. Didn’t once check back on us between the time we put our order in, and when the food was ready. Didn’t ask if we wanted refills, other drinks, more chips and salsa, nothing. She didn’t come back until she was flagged down for a takeout box. The place wasn’t busy, if it had been I could totally let that slide (more so if the food was worth it).
So the food. We ordered the Taco Dinner, which included two “rolled tacos” and two “folded tacos” with choice of filling, and the standard sides of rice and beans. We figured, this being our first time at this establishment, this would be something easy that would give us a decent sense of what the quality of the menu was.
The food is very bland. Even the table salsa was almost sweet, like it had been intended for an infant. No kick, no flare, nothing. It’s almost like the food was intended for those that consider milk spicy.
I think I have given up on trying to find anything decent in Yuma, I would even take El Torito at this point.

The premises are well-organized and maintained, presenting a bright and fully stocked environment. Navigating the aisles was effortless.

The checkout process was exceptionally smooth and pleasant. We were greeted warmly, and our groceries were bagged efficiently and promptly. A staff member was observed sanitizing carts in the corral outside the store.

I highly recommend this location for a superior grocery shopping experience.

My wife and I went for lunch here for the first time today. We ordered a combo appetizer plate and a queso chorizo dip.
The chorizo dip had cheddar cheese on it, not Mexican at all! Then, we were charged for a full meal instead of the appetizer price. It was supposed to be spicy, and was not at all spicy- had to ask for hot sauce, why is that not on the table to start with?
Do not recommend, and we will not be back with so many other choices in town, almost anywhere else will be better.

Great little Mexican food place. Has a carne asada ranchera. Very good. Green hot sauce was pretty good. Didn’t get a chance to try the red hot. They were out for the day.

Great fresh guacamole. The gentleman that usually serves the guacamole cart is fantastic! They were friendly attentive and made the guacamole exactly how we like it. Fresh and flavorful we loved the roasted corn. Great service that added a fun personal touch to our meal.

This is our number one go to place when we are in town. Great service, clean, enjoyable, comfortable atmosphere. Food is top notch, authentic and excellent portion size. We always take a quart of their salsa home with us. Magnifico!!!

We went to Yuma to visit my mother and ran across this restaurant and decided to check it out. OMG! what a find. This is some of the best Mexican food I have ever had. Come to find out, my mother said we used to go there, at a different location when I was a child. The food was delicious, and the service was spot on. I will remember this place and be back when in town. I highly recommend it.

Chretin’s Mexican Restaurant has been a staple of the Desert Southwest for decades.

The restaurant relocated from Yuma’s West End and is now located along one of the city’s main arteries 16th Street. (Corner of 16th and Arizona Avenue).

The restaurant is well kept, staff is courteous and attentive. We didn’t have to ask for refills. We ordered the Taco Salad, mixed fajitas, and the flan.

Taco Salad: Shell and veggies were fresh. We ordered the shredded beef which was well seasoned. Over all a great dish.

Mixed Fajita: The veggies were perfectly sauteed, I’m a sucker for sauteed onions. It came with shrimp, chicken, and beef.

Flan (Mexican Jello): The plating was perfect. The dessert wasn’t too sweet even with whipped cream on top.

Overall a great experience and plan on coming back to try the menudo.

I like that they bring the salsa in a container so you can fill up the bowl as much or as little as you want. Food was flavorful though the red sauce on the cheese enchiladas was a tad salty, but it didn’t stop me from eating it. Lively atmosphere with people enjoying their meals. Pleasant for a stop on a road trip.
