I love the fact that you can have sushi but ramen, noodles and grill your meat in the bbq too! I wonder why they removed the egg from the salmon rice dish
Omg don’t forget your dessert at the end by the way!
Their service is fast and attentive. Flagging someone down takes less than a minute and items get delivered within a few minutes after ordering.
Their food quality is great. Every cut they had was beautifully marbled. Their cooked items were good and had a unique variety.
The sushi options are nice to have. I personally just recommend the torched salmon handroll.
Overall if I were to go somewhere for AYCE JBBQ and sushi id likely come back here.
My favorites were the prime kalbi, garlic shrimp in foil, and the beef tataki—all really well done. Also enjoyed the black pepper kalbi strips, sliced beef brisket, marinated lamb, jumbo shrimp, cheese corn, and the beef udon soup.
For dessert, both the crème brûlée and gelato were great finishes.
Service was very attentive—our waitress Minami was super friendly and kept everything moving smoothly.
Overall: 5/5. Great food, great service, and definitely a spot I’d come back to.
The miso-marinated beef is unmatched, and the ikura don is literally my favourite in the city!
☹️ The only drawback is the limitation on call of desserts.
The crème brûlée is super amazing, but I wish they didn’t limit the order (1 person can only order once). Places like KAKA sushi AYCE or Gyubee let you call creme brulee unlimited (and even offer flavours like matcha or earl grey).
If a manager ever sees this: please consider being more flexible with dessert orders! Cut costs somewhere else, not the desserts, because they truly complete the whole experience for most customers.
Still, Taisho remains one of the best Japanese grills in the city, and I’ll keep coming back on special occasions ✨
Big shoutout to our server Haru, he was amazing and friendly, he checked in often without being pushy, and made sure we had everything we needed. Honestly made the experience 10x better.
Definitely recommend this spot if you’re craving Japanese grill — and if you get Haru as your server, you’re in for a great experience!
However, my experience with dinner today was disappointing and completely ruined the positive impressions I had of this place. Dinner itself was great – I came with friends whom I had recommended this restaurant to. But at the end, after paying the bill, the staff came to us and said that we had left too little tip. Of course, they asked if everything was okay, but the tone made it obvious that they were unhappy about the amount of the tip. Since I wasn’t alone, I paid the bill and my friends were going to leave the tip in cash, but after this inappropriate question, we had no desire to leave anything at all.
Will I return again? Probably no, but until this moment I was 100% sure that I would visit many more times.
Another thing I didn’t really like is that desserts are limited – for example, crème brûlée can only be ordered once per person. In other restaurants, this dessert is unlimited, and here it feels like they are cutting costs. The crème brûlée was delicious, and I really wanted to order it again, but unfortunately (or fortunately for the management saving money) it wasn’t allowed. As for ice cream, I can agree with their approach – in some places it’s paid separately, so it’s nice that they offer one fried ice cream for free. Many other Asian restaurants also give ice cream for free, even though they’re not all-you-can-eat.
Pros: The waitresses tonight were amazing – they completely won my heart with how attentive and fast they were. The food quality was also very good.
Cons: The way the dinner ended.
