The rest of our menu items were a hit or miss on our personal palettes.
The best brunch item was the French toast with apples.
Unfortunately, the service significantly impacted our experience. Our server came across as snooty, impatient, and unwelcoming. Since it was our first visit, we asked a few questions about the menu, and his responses felt rude and dismissive. Personally, his attitude alone took away from what should have been an enjoyable evening.
We ordered the following to share:
Food:
• Dry-aged steak burger (subbed blue cheese for cheddar) – $32
• Double cut bone-in pork chop – $49
Drinks:
• Dark Spark (x2) – $18 each + $7 Reposado substitution (per server’s suggestion)
• Pearloma – $17
• Fresh Picked Old Fashioned – $18
The Dark Spark was very underwhelming—small, nothing memorable, and absolutely not worth $23 per drink in my opinion. It’s described as espresso-martini–like, but I’ve had far better versions at other restaurants. The Pearloma was good, but again, $17 for a small cocktail felt overpriced. Same goes for the old fashioned—fine, but nothing special for the price.
Food-wise, the burger was the standout—juicy, flavorful, and genuinely delicious. Is it worth $32? That’s subjective, but it was very tasty. The pork chop wasn’t bad, just not something I personally loved. My boyfriend enjoyed it more than I did, but I would choose the burger again over the pork chop.
To add to the frustration, we noticed a 3.5% surcharge automatically added to the check, which you have to request to be removed. With menu prices already being quite high, this felt unnecessary and left a bad impression.
Overall, we’ve spent less and had much more enjoyable dining experiences—with equally good or better food—elsewhere. We dine out often, and while appearances here are nice, they don’t make up for unfriendly service, high prices, and added fees.
Because of the service, pricing, and surcharge, we won’t be returning anytime soon.
Final rating: 3/5, largely due to service and cost.
Throughout the planning process, the entire Oakville events team was incredibly helpful, answering my (what felt like, hundreds) of random questions, and accommodating all of our special requests. Our tasting was one of the must fun days of the process, and The Oakville was also willing to let us review the space, test AV and leave event items there prior to the wedding.
Our wedding day was absolutely perfect; the Oakville team coordinated seamlessly with our day-of coordinator to set up the upstairs event space, and I did not have to lift a finger. When we arrived for the ceremony, I was blown away by how beautiful the space looked (and was even greeted with a glass of champagne!). Following our ceremony (which looked beautiful in the upstairs patio), my husband and I were greeted with mini lemon drop martinis (our favorite!), and the high standard of service carried through the entire event; it was so fun to see some of our favorite servers staffing the event! Finally: the food. Our guests would not stop raving about our entire menu, and were blown away at the level of quality; we feel so lucky!
Thank you again to the entire Oakville team for all of your support; you’re a part of our story forever!
We ordered a variety of dishes to share:
• Bar snacks and sourdough were a great start.
• The Faroe Islands Salmon Crispy Rice had incredible flavor and texture.
• The crispy chicken sliders could’ve been a little juicier, but still tasty.
• The potato salad deviled eggs were the standout favorite – creamy, tangy, and perfectly done.
• The double smash burger with bacon delivered big flavor, especially with that thick-cut bacon.
We were also celebrating a friend’s birthday, and the staff surprised us with a warm cookie topped with ice cream – the perfect sweet ending to the night.
Service was a little slow as dinner starting picking, but atmosphere was lively yet comfortable, and overall it made for a memorable evening. Definitely a spot I’d come back to.
We stayed for three hours, ordering statrters, apps, drinks and finally our entrees. There wasn’t not one item that did not utterly impress.
The artichokes and the sweet potatoes were my hands down favs! But honestly every dish was superb.
