The food was absolutely phenomenal — juicy, saucy, and layered with flavor. Every bite had the perfect balance of richness and nuance, crafted with true skill and love. The setting was cozy and full of life, with a beautiful hum of conversation all around. The staff treated us like family — warm, attentive, and kind — yet with the grace and professionalism of a fine dining experience.
We enjoyed every moment: eating heartily, laughing together, and savoring the sense of community that Joe’s seems to create so effortlessly. It’s the kind of place that reminds you what makes dining out special — not just the food, but the feeling.
We’ll certainly be back soon, but every visit will be a special occasion. Thank you, Joe’s, for keeping your heart and history alive — and for giving my father and me such a beautiful memory to share.
The shrimp scampi pizza seriously surprised me in the best way, great flavor, not overly greasy, and just different enough to stand out from your typical pizza options. I also had the chicken parm pasta, which was amazing and easily one of the best comfort dishes I’ve had in a while.
One thing that really stood out was the Diablo sauce; it had incredible flavor with the perfect kick. Overall, Joe’s just feels like a spot that’s been doing things right for a long time, and you can tell they care about the food. Definitely a place I’ll keep coming back to.
There is parking in the lot across the street fyi.
Nor did we have to wait long for service, nor for food, nor for anything else. The prices were not unreasonable for Northampton (this being a pricey college town), the portions were large, and the food excellent: I’d forgotten, for one, what GOOD garlic bread really tasted like. I had a fine bacon and onion pizza, my wife had lasagna, and we’ve got plenty of leftovers. Even with a crowded, busy place (and lots of takeout business), the service was fine, cheerful and prompt.
Alright, you might ask, five stars? Any place can have a good night, right? Maybe so, but one thing that struck me was how very many *regulars* it has. People constantly greeting the waitresses by name. Waitresses constantly greeting customers by name. Customers greeting each other by name. This doesn’t happen with a mediocre neighborhood joint, but with an excellent one. I told the waitresses that we’d be back. We will be.
Our only gripe is dining during the colder seasons. If you are in the dining room that shares the hostess station, you will constantly be bombarded with the outside artic air. The door is opened to an excess of what seems every other minute (i understand patron turn over but its also all the pickup orders). Everyone seems to stop talking with the rushes of cold air noting their discomfort. It would be worth signage to use the other door at the bar side during these months.
