I am writing to give a shout out to Lamar, an employee who helped me today during curbside pick up! He did a tremendous job helping me locate my food order. I started coming to this location several months ago because I have children and it is hard to find good curb side service. The IHOP near my house had terrible service. Anyway, I experienced my first hiccup with the Capitol Heights location and if it wasn’t for Lamar , I would have ended my patronage to this IHOP as well. The issue was that I ordered my food on the app , and when I got there, I clicked “I’m here” and they told me they would be right out…..well they didnt come. Because of my noisy kids, I failed to read the sign that says you can also call. I went to the door to find someone to assist and Lamar was the only employee to come over to help as the others ignored my plea for assistance. THANK YOU LAMAR! You modeled great behavior and problem solving skills ! Well done young man! I am giving them a four stars because of him.

In order to get REAL EGGS in your food you have to ask for it and this location every single time gives me the folded frozen egg that they use for most of their entrees! Listen to your customers when they request something you all HIDE on the menu! Stop giving me something I did not request! 0 stars.

I’m updating this review because, unfortunately, my past few visits with my family have not been up to par. There is one particular server who consistently provides immaculate service—when we are lucky enough to be seated with him (tall African American male with the shirt fro), the experience is always excellent.
However, during our most recent visits, the service from other staff has been very disappointing. On a prior visit, our grits were undercooked. Today, I waited over 10 minutes for a simple sweet tea refill, despite seeing refills delivered to other tables.
The most frustrating issue occurred at checkout. I provided both cash and my card, and the server incorrectly assumed the cash was her tip and still charged my card in full. I then had to wait again for the mistake to be corrected and my cash returned.
I’m sharing this feedback because consistency in service matters. Outside of that one exceptional server, the overall experience has been poor, and unless improvements are made, we will likely stop visiting this location after church.

My partner and I decided to visit this Ihoo location on Sunday, March 24, 2024. It was a disaster from start to finish. We stood at the door for 5 minutes waiting to be seated! Upon entering the lobby was a trashy mess! There was a young lady with braids whom I’m assuming to be the manager who was standing by the kitchen entrance who saw us and continued to talk and watch us. Finally she seated us at a dirty two too table that had dried strawberry syrup on the table, trash under the table and a dirty seat. Approximately 5 minutes later a young lady came to take our order and I ordered for my partner and I wasn’t sure what I wanted so she said I’m going to take another tables drink orders and I will be back, in the interim another young lady came over named Jayme and said can I help you I explained another young lady came over and started the order but left to take another tables order because I was unsure what I wanted she said no worries I can take it and let her know. I said okay well my partner would like to change her initial order because we noticed something different on the menu she said okay so we placed our order. Jayme told the other young lady she picked us up and took our order and the young lady said I will transfer the one order to you so she says well they changed it and the young lady goes onto say what I already sent it to the kitchen, the lady I assumed to be the manager goes to the kitchen and hollers don’t make that order for table 55 they can’t make up their mind and they don’t want it, first of all why would she send it to the kitchen without both orders we came to eat together and one plate would’ve come out without the other. We finally received our food the pancakes were ice cold and so was the sausage. We sent them back. My companions pancakes came back within 3 minutes however, my pancakes came back after I was done eating which was approximately 15-20 minutes and I had to ask where was my sausage links. She said it’s coming! After waiting all that time my pancakes came back undercooked and my sausage cold! The entire was a disaster! The staff was sitting off in another area eating and talking all the while there were multiple dirty tables! I remember when Max the proprietor first came to that location and the one in Greenbelt it was nice! I’m assuming he’s no longer in charge! We will NEVER come there again! This place needs an overhaul from management on down!

Wow, did an online order, went to go get it, it wasn’t ready. Same with six other people. Some lady comes up to do a roll call to get orders out. LOOKS ME RIGHT IN THE FACE, asks the guy next to me his name, goes around the room back to me and turns away and walks off. Oh, BTW, im white, everyone else is black… when she gets back, I get up to let her know my name. What do you know, my order was ready and sitting for a while. You might want to check your staff for race issues. There seems to be one here.

My wife was served overcooked sirlion tips when she specifically asked for rare beef tips with blood. If you aren’t able to serve them that way then you should have explained that from the beginning. My wife was also brought a dirty steak knife. This has completely ruined my first ever NFL football experience before I even got there because she blames me and is now in a terrible state of mind. We waited over 30 mins for overcooked steak. Thanks a lot IHOP. Will probably never go there again because you absolutely ruined my day moving forward.

My sister waited 10 minutes in line before getting seated. It took 10+ minutes before our waitress approached us & took drink orders.She took an additional 5 minutes to return with our drinks & took our entrée orders. She forgot to give us straws. This IHOP had plenty of waitresses, runners, hostesses & 1 manager on duty. I asked the hostress for straws. Our entrees finally came. My spinach omelet was warm in the middle & lukewarm to cold on the ends. After praying over our food; I quickly started eating my entrée. It seemed like our food had sat for a while due to temperature. No ones pancakes were hot because the scoop of butter didn’t melt. My sister & son asked the waitress for strawberry/ blueberry syrup. The waitress informed them when she returned that they didn’t have any strawberry syrup containers anymore. She gave my sister a condiment container with strawberry syrup in it & placed a 1/2 full container of blueberry syrup on our table. The ladies’ restroom had 1 stall not working. Our waitress was a little slow, yet she did her best to serve us. I would return again back to this IHOP eatery.
