You cant beat the views of the ocean from this place, the view was absolutely amazing. Me and my boyfriend were visiting his daughter and her husband, this was our first time to the area. We wanted the full experience so choose a restaurant on the beach, again the view from the outside sitting area can not be beaten, we were seated right away. The manager came up and asked were we were from and was just all around a nice inviting guy. Our server on the other hand was something else. The food was fantastic, we expected it to be alittle pricey because of the location and we were not wronge, I felt it was alittle over priced for what we got, especially the blueberry lemonade drink ( $10 or around there for an alcoholic drink that i swear had very little to no actual alcohol in it)
But whatever we came prepared to spend time and a bit money there and celebrate our first vacation. The server dropped our food off and acted bothered when we asked for drink refills (she actually sighed) after she dropped off the refills, she never came back to check on us. Not to clear plates, not to ask about more drinks, nothing. The table next to us got up and left because she never came back. Over an hour after sitting and waiting for her, we finally had to go inside and find her to ask for the bill and pay. Still she acted bothered and annoyed the whole time, then she walked around with our card for another 20mins before finally cashing us out handing it back without a word or anything.

Sorry for the long review. Food is good. If you get the server with a birthmark on her forehead ask for someone else, the restaurant and her definitely missed out on us hanging around spending more money, the bill for 4 of us was about $200 but if the service was good we definitely would have stuck around and celebrated. We all agreed that after the horrible service we wouldn’t return and won’t be recommending this place to any friends or relatives that are visiting the area.

Absolutely amazing, I got the bacon wrapped shrimp and a Philly cheesesteak with fries and everything was great. Service awesome, and the food I didn’t have to put salt on, they have just the right amount of salt, not too much and not too little. I was thinking oh just some lousy bar food and boy was I wrong. The name might be The Lazy Turtle but under that it should say not lousy food. Beach view, beach vies and it is literally on the beach haha. I love great food.

Our family LOVES the Lazy Turtle! We visit there every time we are on the island. We usually sit outside so we can have our feet in the sand and experience the ocean while we enjoy their food and cocktails. They make an excellent Hurricane. Whether you want seafood, burgers, chicken fingers or a sloppy Joe, you can’t go wrong! They have lots of other choices too, but those are our favorites. I even enjoyed the BBQ sandwich this last visit. To tell you how much we enjoy being at “The Turtle”, my middle daughter, who turned 18 in June, had only one birthday request and it was to eat a Sloppy Joe from the LazyTurtle with her feet in the sand on her birthday. So, that’s what we did. That speaks volumes for how much we like going there. The LT is just special to us like the island itself. It’s laid back and feels like home. It’s fun dining, not fine dining. Just go, you’ll see.

This on the beach eatery is a must see. As we came around 6 we chose to sit outside for the sunset. Great choice. There was a guitar player as entertainment and he was great. The food was very good. The sloppy Joe was spicy for me but everyone else had great food. I ordered a different drink with coconut rum and it was not something I would order again. Service was good, although they were short staffed but they were doing a good job of keeping up and apologizing for delays. The weather was perfect. All ages and groups of people will enjoy this. Families with kids and people with dogs. Very friendly staff. Right on the beach for sunset was perfect!! We would recommend not to miss this place.

Stopped by the Lazy Turtle to try their new football game dine in wing special for .99. We had the Lazy Turtle sauce, Old Bay and Honey Mustard. The wings were great! The place was packed and the new manager Gio was making sure everyone had a good time. The new TV’s were all on various games and we were happy to see our team win! Try it out. Wings and football on the beach. ❤️

The food was great!! The service was just ok. The atmosphere not so good. The whole time we were there, people/employees were smoking right beside us. At one point there were 6 people smoking at the same time. If you’re a smoker, this place is perfect. We will not be back for that reason!!

This was a great experience, even inside the cold of Black Friday. The place is adorable, service great, food good, and good drinks. Highly recommend as a place to bring kids, hang out, and have some food and a drink.

We had such a great experience at The Lazy Turtle in Oak Island! The atmosphere was fun and relaxed—perfect for a beach day meal. The food was delicious, but what really made our visit special was our waitress, Lauren. She was friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home from the moment we sat down. You could tell she genuinely cared that we enjoyed our meal.

Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area—great food, great view, and even better service. Thanks, Lauren, for making our visit such a memorable one!

This place is a go-to for us when we visit. It’s the only place you can eat and drink with your toes in the sand. The inside is also nice but, outside watching the sunset and enjoying the firecracker shrimp, is a little piece of heaven. I haven’t had anything there that wasn’t tasty. The new manager Gino and all of the staff go out of their way to make you feel like an honored guest.

I’m going to be so honest… this was my first and last time coming here. There was a new hostess in training and I’m not sure if the two men that we’re interacting with her were owners or managers… one had a boot on and the other was short and they were both older. The one with the boat was really the issue if I’m honest… he was very rude and yelling at her. They treated this women very badly infront of customers and she kept expressing genuinely wanting to gain knowledge and they just kept on belittling her. She never complained, I never said anything which I regret now. She was such a sweet woman and she was so pleasant to speak with during own wait. I understand how busy this industry must be but as a manager or trainer or even employee you need to be willing to be KIND and UNDERSTANDING.
Then my party sat down… we got our drinks quickly but when we ordered we noticed that it took over 30 minutes to get our food which was not much. When the food came out, all 3 members of my party was served ice cold food… it was pretty soggy as well.
Overall, the wait times, food, service and environment was not great.
