This is by far one of the best fast foods ever. I hadn’t had their fries cooked in beef tallow… until now. I had to wait a few minutes for my fries to be ready, because they were being cooked fresh. It was worth the wait. The burger; the fries; the drink; perfection. I asked for extra pickles, and as an inexperienced Steak n Shake customer, I saw pickles cut the long way that covered the entire burger. Heavenly. I reserve a fraction of a star, because the exterior was a bit dreary, but then again, it was raining. If you’re waiting on someone to tell you that you really need to go there, then consider this your invitation. I will definitely be going much more often. McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Arby’s, take a lesson from them.

I was getting a door dash and got double ordered, I expected to wait quite a while as there wasn’t many people in the kitchen and they were swamped with orders, I was okay with the wait. The grill cook handed me a burger and said it was for my patience, on top of the party sized order he just made and the many drive through orders. He was sweet and calm even when the kitchen was stressed.

This is by far the worst Steak and Shake location in all of lakeland. My elderly mother forgot to add a shake to our order and she politly asked the man in the window if she can please add a shake to her order and he replied “you want to order a shake? Where from here?” And proceeded to say he doesn’t like when people order at the window and asked her to drive around the building and order at the speaker. Keep in mind there was absolutely no one eating inside the restaurant and we were the only people in the drive thru. Of course, with customer service like that it’s clear why this place is always empty. Also our food seemed like it was just thrown together and one of our burgers was missing a bun which we unfortunately did not notice until we got home. If I could give this place zero stars I would. It’s just overall unfriendly and dirty.

The food was great, the staff was mostly helpful, but, the manager didn’t want me to use the bathroom, he told me that it was for paying customers, I paid for a burger and cheese fries and, a drink, he told me that I couldn’t use it if I had already left and gone outside, but, then, he said not to mess it up, so, I was allowed to go. Weird! Food was good though.

I can’t speak for the drive through but the inside was filthy and run down. The woman working the counter looked like she hadn’t slept in 48 hours and there was nobody in the joint at 16:00. I know S&S has had some financial trouble but this is a really sad ending to a once great place!
