Great vibe and great people at the chain. The only feedback I have is about the pizza. The presentation is solid, but the flavor and balance could be improved. Adding a lot of cheese doesn’t necessarily make a better pizza.
Also, when you advertise a thin-crust option, it should truly be thin crust. We ordered one, but it looked pretty much like a regular pizza. That might just be how the chain prepares it, but it was different from what we expected.
Overall, I’d rate the pizza 3/5, but the vibe and the people are a definite 5/5.

Any time we get to the Reston area, we head to this Mellow Mushroom for lunch. The service is terrific and the server that we’ve had every time has been wonderful. I eat a very small amount and I like their lunch specials. But if the husband & I are together we get a Medium House Special and still have leftovers to take home. I highly recommend Mellow Mushroom and this Chantilly location.

Decorations and atmosphere were great, very unique. The wait staffs were very nice also. You can customize your own pizza but no pasta. Italian Sub was not so great. Just too much cheese but not enough meat, only few meat pieces. Veggie Canzone was okp. Also too much cheese and not enough veggies. Just putting a lots of cheese doesn’t mean the food comes out tasty.

First time here. Excellent food, loved the crusts and the spinach dip was very cheesy and tasty. Very kind as first time guests given complimentary appetizer. Our server, Payton, was very kind! Definitely will come back when we visit VA.

Visited Mellow Mushroom on a Sunday and our table ordered the Great White Pizza, a build-your-own pepperoni and sausage pizza, Cloud 9 wings, and a Lil Caesar salad.
The Great White was delicious—I’d rate it an 8.5/10. The crust was easily the highlight—crispy, flavorful, and perfectly baked. The pepperoni and sausage pizza was even better, a solid 9/10 with bold, classic flavors done right.
The Cloud 9 wings, unfortunately, were a letdown. They came out lukewarm, so I sent them back to be reheated. Our server was nowhere to be found for about 10–12 minutes, and we had to flag down the manager just to get the wings warmed up. Even after that, they were just mediocre at best—5/10.
The Caesar salad was fresh and tasty, and surprisingly, even the Diet Coke stood out—cold, crisp, and well-carbonated.
The decor had a cool rustic-modern vibe, with airplane propellers on the ceiling that added a unique touch.
Would I return? Definitely—for the pizza. Everything else was hit or miss, but the pies alone are worth another visit.
