We stopped into The Hangout Restaurant & Beach Bar on our way to the Long Beach airport, and it was such a great choice! The service was warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in.
The food was outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and made with care. We tried the jalapeño burger, shrimp, and their Food Network–famous onion rings, and they lived up to the hype! The adult chicken tenders, breaded in-house, were another highlight—their breading and beer batter were absolutely amazing.
This spot has a fun, laid-back vibe with great food and friendly service. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area!

On a sunny Sunday morning, we were seated in only 20 minutes. The four of us felt fortunate to have a view of the pier, and Graham took excellent care of us. We never felt rushed, and water was refilled often. The onion rings deserve the award they received, and the pickle chips had just the right tanginess. The Double Bypass Burger (we asked for the chili on the side) was HUGE and so delicious; the “buns” are actually grilled cheese sandwiches. Our Bacon Bloody Mary and Dirty Bloody Mary complemented the burger perfectly.

one of the only places I go when I go to the beach and have extra money. Plus the burger was so good. I got two Bud lights, one Guinness and then I got the happy hour burger fries and wings. The wings were okay burger was really good. I hould have asked for extra onions and extra sauce but really good. Bartender Allie was really nice. I always love going to happy hour.

Most of what we’ve tried here has been good but after two attempts with their fish and chips, I’d suggest avoiding them. They consist of about 60% batter and what’s worse, the fried batter just falls off after the first bite leaving very unappetizing and bland cod. Photo shows what I’m talking about.

Came for breakfast. Service was very pleasant. Surprisingly my omelette was one of the best I’ve had. The hash browned were nice and crispy and the coffee was smooth.

We ordered the grilled steak tacos, which were perfectly salted and tasted incredibly high-quality and fresh. The bacon mac & cheese balls were solid — crispy on the outside with a rich, cheesy center.
But the real standout was the country fried chicken. It might look low-key, but the flavor was next level, especially with their in-house sausage gravy that brought everything together beautifully. To finish, the bread pudding was fluffy, comforting, and not overly sweet — the perfect ending to the meal.
Great food, relaxed beachside vibe, and definitely a place I’ll be coming back to. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in Seal Beach!

We had dinner at The Hangout twice recently and had a generally positive experience. On our first visit, I tried the pear salad and absolutely loved it — fresh, well-balanced, and full of flavor. On our second visit, I ordered the mussels pasta. While the presentation and service were excellent, I found the dish itself a bit underwhelming. The sauce was very liquid and lacked flavor for my taste. It might just not have been the right dish for me, but overall, I appreciated the friendly atmosphere and attentive staff.

The Hangout Restaurant & Beach Bar felt bright, fun, and full of beach‑town charm when I visited with someone, and I saw a lot of teenagers enjoying the big portions and ocean views. The atmosphere felt relaxed and sunny, which teenagers would love because it makes the whole experience feel like a mini vacation. The service was friendly and upbeat, and the staff made everyone feel welcome, which helps teens feel comfortable even in a busy restaurant. The value is great because the portions are huge, and you really feel like you’re getting a full experience with the food and the view. The quality of the meals was impressive, and everything tasted fresh and satisfying. The selection on the menu gives teenagers plenty of fun choices, from burgers to seafood to sweet drinks. I only visited once, but it was one of the most enjoyable beachside restaurants I’ve been to in a long time, and I would highly recommend that teenagers go there because it gives them a place to eat, relax, and enjoy the beach in a fun and memorable way.

Low key, good food. I come here when I visit LA for work and can always get a table looking at the pier. More importantly, they have one of my top 3 burgers of all time, Jalapeno burger. The fire roast like 2 or 3 fresh peppers in big chunks, whole onion ring on there, rare – love this & a red trolly, def works every time.
