Reviews
The menu had so many great looking dishes, but I decided upon split pea soup. It came with soup crackers. I contempted getting a basket of Parker House Rolls (Being from near Boston, I opted out besides they came as 6 rolls). Soo the soup was thick, warm, and just really nice. All of us had a bowl.
My other cohorts had dessert. One had a slice of in-house apple pie. This was served with two Vermont slices of Cabot Cheddar. The cohort stated that the crust was so buttery textured and delicious. The other cohort had apple crisp with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Both rated them very highly.
We never felt rushed and all the patrons were great. We had a conversation with a couple about a place they had stayed at.
The bathrooms were very clean. The bathroom had a great wallpaper of outhouse(s).
This is a great stop when you need an oasis to eat and rehydrate!! From 1918 to beyond!!!
I remember formulating a review in my mind about this place but I may have given up writing anything because I’m never going back. I do remember being annoyed that they charged me $6 for half a pancake. I recommend you avoid this place. They just seemed unprofessional here. Look at the portion size on the home fries.
Loved the cups lined up behind the booth. These were the tip cups. Restaurants like this are so ingrained in what they’re doing, they can never step back and evaluate. This is the most unsafe place to put worker’s tips; there has to be a better way.
I picked them up on the day before Thanksgiving. On Thanksgiving, I opened up one of the Apples and it was completely filled with more liquid, than actual filling. it was a soggy mess. I emailed immediately, hoping to hear back in a couple of days but sadly, nothing.
Then on Friday, I opened the pumpkin and it immediately tasted off, but thought oh well it must not have been a good pie making here for them. But when I looked at the pie the next day (note – this is only a little over 2 days after picking them up) – and half the pie was covered in mold.
And no, where I had them stored, was not too hot or cold. All temperature controlled. Was completely stunned and grossed out.
Also, the rolls I ordered from day one felt hard but was trying to be open-minded. I am not one to normally make an official complaint, but sadly I think the Wayside has lost my business.
The pancakes are delicious.
Highly recommended.
Food was excellent at a very reasonable price: blueberry pancakes were superb!
