What an amazing meal. Arrived solo for a 5.30 meal, had a glass of rosé to go with some oysters and bone marrow with onions. Lucky enough to have the roast (with a glass of Barolo) since it was Sunday. Food was tasty. The Sticky Toffee Pidding was probably the best in town. Service was impeccable. The host Johanna has been delightful and welcoming.
Definitely a 5 stars recommendation. Hopefully will have a chance to come back and dine here again.

Our server was lovely! We planed our entire Sunday itinerary around arriving in Edinburgh to have Sunday roast, only to find out they sold the last dish to the table next to us. It was wildly disappointing considering we’d made our reservations about a month in advance. We spent four times what we’d been expecting because of this :/
That said, our food was delicious. Just flagging for other Americans that the potted beef is probably an acquired taste as it has a similar texture to tuna because of the way it’s chopped and prepared. The steaks were done quite perfect.

Visited with my wife and had a really positive experience. We arrived early after a long travel day and were seated straight away, very welcoming from the start.
The atmosphere was vibrant but not noisy, which made it comfortable.
We had scallops and crab toast to start which were nice, though nothing particularly memorable as scallops lacked any flavour and i thought the panko (breadcrumbs) doesn’t fit the plate, hides the scallops.
Highlight was the porterhouse with chips, Caesar salad and blue cheese hollandaise, absolutely outstanding.
Full of flavour and cooked perfectly also service was excellent throughout.
The bill came to around £187, not cheap but fair for the quality.
Would definitely return.

Overall a pretty good Sunday lunch, though I felt my crab starter was a bit of a letdown, dry bread, undressed crab and wilted watercress.

My wife treated me to the Jan special set lunch menu and it didn’t disappoint. The food was delicious and the Jan deals were excellent value. Loved the decor and atmosphere. The staff were attentive. The only slight disappointment was at the start of the meal, when I was at the toilet, my wife secretly informed the waiter it was my birthday and he told her he’d arrange something to mark the occasion but he must have forgot! A minor detail but it would’ve been a nice addition to the visit.

We came here during winter discount period. 3 courses for £25.88 (including 12.5% service charge) which was a good value. Their mains were quite good while the starters were even better! Highly recommend the Caesar salad and mushrooms. The service was quick and exceptional.

Brief city break in Edinburgh, found the venue after a short walk from my hotel.
Was not a clearly stated ‘wait to be seated’ system so ended up finding my own table.
Staff were pleasant enough taking my order, asked attentive questions.
30 minute wait for well done rump steak and fries.
Steak was worth the wait though.

Everything about this restaurant was fantastic start to finish. Lovely hostess and cloakroom provided. We arrived early for a drink at the bar which was as top quality and I would say value for money as everything else. All food and servers were fantastic, I would definitely come again.

We had an excellent experience at Hawksmoor Edinburgh. The three course offer was fantastic value and the cocktails and wine were a perfect pairing. Really enjoyed the Cantaloupe Spritz! Everyone enjoyed their steak and chips – raving about the chips! I went with something different and had chicken and baked sweet potato which were both delicious. We were nearly too full for dessert, but I’m really glad we opted to share a few as the peanut butter shortbread was incredible as was the sticky toffee pudding. The round table for six was perfect as we could still speak to everyone at the table. Service was very friendly and attentive even in a very busy restaurant. I was surprised how busy it was on a Tuesday in January but I think that speaks to the high quality of food. Looking forward to our next visit.

A step back in time! Luxurious and indulgent experience at Hawksmoor. Booked weeks in advance and glad I did. Also, we were able to be seated 30 mins in advance despite our table booking.
Not only was the Sunday roast one of the best we’ve had, the service was great. The cocktails were absolutely divine, too.
I noted on the booking that it was my husband’s 30th and upon entrance he had birthday wishes from the staff, and also a complimentary dessert – a lovely touch and very appreciated in making our trip that bit more special and memorable.
Would highly recommend!
