I wanted to like this place. I am always disappointed anytime I eat here. This time was no different. I ordered the ribeye, medium rare with the balsalmic glaze. It was rare, soggy, and gray, no crust what so ever and the balsalmic was completely over powering the steak. Even if it wasn’t added, the steak itself was gross. I could’ve eaten a better steak at Dennys

I visited the Olympia Oyster House, hoping for a classic Pacific Northwest seafood experience, but unfortunately, it fell a bit short of expectations. The historic setting and waterfront location are charming and beautiful — there’s no denying the restaurant’s atmosphere has potential. This restaurant was also recommended to me by several locals, so I was pretty excited. However, the food and service didn’t quite match the setting.

I ordered a dozen oysters, but several of the oysters contained small pea crabs — harmless, but definitely ruined my appetite (they were even crawling around in the sauce). I didn’t grow up near water and according to Google, it’s something that can happen with wild-caught oysters, but it still took away from my enjoyment. The rest of the oysters were just average in taste and presentation, lacking that crisp, ocean-fresh flavor I was hoping for. The cocktails were decent, but not memorable.

What stood out the most was the slow service — especially surprising since the restaurant wasn’t busy during our visit. However, the staff was polite, but a little inattentive towards the end of our meal, and it felt like our time dragged on unnecessarily.

Overall, Olympia Oyster House has a great location and potential, but the food and service need refinement to match the cost and experience it promises.

My husband and I had the 3 course meal. It included clam chowder, fish and chips and slice of cheesecake. It was very good. The food came out hot and fresh. Large portions. Would recommend.

I had the Drunken Chef. It had salmon, cod, scallops, shrimp, clams, and mushrooms in a wonderful rum cream sauce!

Monica had the Panko halibut with garlic mashed potatoes. It was halibut. Monica did say she had the beer-battered halibut the last time and that it was much better.

Tarin (sp?) was great. Even gave me an education on why my oyster shell was lighter in color. Food was good, had a fun variety of holiday drinks.

Great location on the wharf with good views. The decor is nice has a very ocean feel. The food was good, but the vegetarian options were pretty limited.

Haven’t been here for years. We got parking right in front. Sat in the bar. It was slow, and the bartender provided great service. Drinks were delicious. Had the crab dip appetizer, freaking delicious. I ordered the Drunken Chef. Great flavor, I will order that again! My date ordered the steak and lobster special of the night. She liked it . Great experience.

Such a lovely lunch experience by the waterfront! Everything was fresh, well-seasoned, and served with a smile. Here’s what we had:

Shucked Oysters (2 orders of 6)
Super fresh and briny — absolutely delicious! Chilled on ice with lemon and cocktail sauce, they were the star of the meal. Would definitely come back just for these!

Clam Chowder
Rich, creamy, and comforting. Full of flavor with a nice balance of herbs — perfect for a breezy afternoon by the water.

Halibut Dinner
Simple but satisfying — grilled halibut was lightly seasoned, flaky, and fresh. Came with crispy fries and sautéed veggies (loved the crunchy broccoli mix). A great combo of textures.

Sierra Nevada Summer Lager & Iced Tea
Both drinks were refreshing and paired well with the seafood.

Total: $113.04 (for 2 people)
A bit on the pricier side, but worth it for the quality and location. Plus, no regrets on the oysters — they were amazing!

Dining outside on the deck was a bonus. The view, service, and atmosphere made it a perfect lunch stop in Olympia. Highly recommend!

The Oysters were great but they had a long arrival time since they were backed several oyster orders. Seemed like only one person was available for shucking the evening we went which surprised me since they are an “Oyster House”. Fries were awesome but the wagyu burger was dry and bland

Fries and oysters hit the spot though and atmosphere is great!
