From my view, this is one of the best barbeque restaurants in North Carolina!
This was the second time I visited this particular location (out of currently 5 location), and it did not disappoint.
This is a North Carolina-based chain offering a diverse menu including pork, chicken and turkey in addition to all the side items you can possibly think. My wife and I went for the chicken wings, the chicken thighs and the turkey with hush puppies, sweet potato casserole, coleslaw and the barbeque beans. Everything was delicious!
We walked in for dinner, and the service was excellent, and we did not have to wait at all for a table.
This particular location is accessible and it has its own free parking lot with plenty of spaces.
Overall, 100% recommended.

Now I have found the best restaurant bbq ribs. Nicely smoked fall off the bone tenderness. They DO have fried okra. The banana pudding will make you slap somebody so bring some power (haha). Service hands down great. Them youngsters were pulling orders left and right and done it with a great attitude. Atmosphere is very welcoming & family oriented so if you have kids they’d surely love it too. Oh yeah, and the sweat tea was refreshing It’s evenly priced. I 100% would recommend

The portions are huge, the price is fair, and the flavors are amazing. I was definitely skeptical of the greens and Mac & cheese because I have HIGH standards for them. I was not only blown away by the texture, smells, and flavors I was taken back to my youth. It was like I was in my mom’s and grandma’s kitchen.
I’m glad I have leftovers and look forward to eating there again!!!

I am writing this because I am genuinely hurt and beyond frustrated with the experience I had today. I was already having a very difficult day—feeling physically unwell and emotionally drained—and I decided to treat my family to a 3-choice meal in hopes of a little comfort. Instead, I was met with food that was barely edible and service that was frankly soul-crushing.
The Meal Quality:
The Cornbread: It wasn’t just overdone; it was burnt black and so hard it was impossible to eat.
The Chicken: Both portions were undercooked, clearly old, and lacked even a grain of salt. It had absolutely no flavor.
The Brisket: It was incredibly dry, chewy, and tough to bite through.
The Lack of Service:
What hurt the most, however, was how I was treated when I called to report these issues. I spoke to a young lady and explained the situation calmly and respectfully. I wasn’t looking for a fight; I was looking for a solution. Instead of an apology or any sense of empathy, she simply said, “Okay, have a good evening,” and ended the call.
That cold, dismissive response made me feel completely worthless as a customer. I lost my money, I lost my dinner, and after an already depressing day, that interaction made everything feel much worse. I ended up having to scramble for other dinner plans while still feeling unwell.
I expected much better from Smoked Pit—both from the kitchen and the staff. This was more than just a “bad meal”; it was a total lack of basic human courtesy.

I love this place. This is the second spot of Smoke Pit I’ve visited and it’s great. The food was delicious and the portions are plentiful. There’s plenty of seating. The restaurant is very clean and inviting. The food is fresh and good quality. We will continue to visit this chain. Best BBQ in NC so far.

The best bbq I had so far. I love that the pulled chicken was White meat vs a mix. Next time I would get it with the sauce on the side because it was a tad bit to sweet for me but it was still great. We loved the sweet potatoes, and I really enjoyed the banana pudding .
Yummy sweet tea, better if is half and half so is not too sweet if you prefer less sugar. Also the mac and cheese was tasty; the service was friendly and the restaurant was very clean and new/nicely decorated.

This is the “real deal bbq”! We ate smoked brisket, ribs, pulled pork and sausage. The portions were suitable, the taste was awesome! We were fortunate enough to deal with our server Kalen who was assisted by Ali. They were both attentive and very knowledgeable, steering us to good choices for entrees and sides. Nothing beats good bbq and warm smiles. When in Monroe again, we will be stopping by.

Despite being locals, this was our first trip to The Smoke Pit. Boy, have we been missing out! The bbq ribs were amazing & I appreciated the option of “wet” or “dry”. The large portion sizes compensated for the price listed and we left feeling happy and stuffed with a doggy bag to boot! The staff seemed knowledgeable and were generally friendly. My husband got the highly sought after brisket and oh my goodness it melts in your mouth. Absolutely devine! My only complaint was the noise and being sat by the drink machines but hey, nothing is perfect ♀️ We’ll for sure be returning to this spot again!

We went to eat on 2/7. A very busy Saturday. A lot of waiting. However everything was phenomenal. I had the pleasure of meeting the GM Chelsea when she stopped by table and had to applaud her attitude on a busy night. She was running around helping everyone. She was still checking on every table. Checking in with her staff to make sure that they were ok. She’s bussing tables answering phones and greeting everyone that walked in. It was truly amazing to watch cause you don’t see attitudes like that very often anymore. Our server was Emma. Another great attitude. You can tell she truly loves the job she does. With it being busy our drinks were never empty . Our food was absolutely delicious. I haven’t been to a restaurant in a while where it seemed like everyone truly enjoy their jobs. Keep up the great work!
