Very good food. Excellent service.
Went for a quick snack/craving and noticed the waiting line as well as frequent orders to go. This place is a must for Colombian food in Boston. Also, very conveniently located near the airport. Getting a taxi might be the best way to go as the maps app might have little bugs and also the fact that parking is limited in the area.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was concerning enough that I feel obligated to share it for the safety of others.
I called at 4:38 PM to place a takeout order for two bandeja paisa plates, clearly requesting no pork (chicharrón) and asking for it to be substituted with an extra piece of steak. I also ordered two empanadas. This request was made very clearly over the phone.
We arrived and waited in the car. When my boyfriend went inside at 5:16 PM, the order was still not ready and he was told “10 more minutes” twice before receiving the food.
When I checked the plates, both meals contained pork despite my explicit request. This is not a preference issue — my boyfriend cannot eat pork at all.
I went back inside to explain the issue. The staff member responded in a condescending manner, repeatedly asking, “You ordered without pork?” even after I confirmed multiple times. She then asked who could not eat pork. When I explained that my boyfriend is allergic, she mentioned the beans are cooked with pork and offered to substitute them with soup broth, which I appreciated. We then waited another 20 minutes.
When we opened the bag, the utensils were missing, requiring me to go back inside a third time. Most concerning, my boyfriend later found a piece of pork still stuck to a plantain on his plate, indicating the dish was not properly remade. When an allergy is disclosed, proper protocol requires preparing a completely new plate using clean utensils and surfaces to avoid cross-contamination. Removing the allergen from an already prepared dish is not acceptable and can put someone’s health at serious risk.

Due to the seriousness of this situation, I will be reporting this incident to the appropriate health authorities for review and inspection. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves staff training to prevent this from happening again.

I visited this Colombian restaurant in Lynn while in town visiting my sister, and I’m so glad we stopped by! The environment was warm and welcoming, with a cozy vibe that made us feel at home. There was only one waitress working, so the service took a little extra time, but she was attentive and friendly, and it didn’t take away from the experience. The food was absolutely delicious full of flavor Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

We are from upstate New York and my husband surprised me with a trip to Cape Cod for the weekend. We landed and took off from Boston. My husband is Colombian and whenever we get a chance to eat Colombian food we do. We stopped at El Peñol. It was small, cute and service was great . Colombian people are usually super nice and it was no different here. Definitely get the empanadas!!! My husband got the Bandeja Paísa and I got a soup. Beware they serve alit which not a bad thing. Definitely a must if you are in the area.

Had the opportunity to try traditional Colombian breakfast right here in Boston. One of my friends was gracious enough to take me to this little hole in the wall place and it was excellent. I would definitely recommend.

A group of 5 arrived without reservation and we were seated right away. Food was good. I had the currazco. Everyone was satisfied with the food selection. Portions were good. The 20% tip was included on the bill.

Super delicious and authentic Colombian food. Has a welcoming, home like feel. The pros: Food and drinks served quickly, food full of flavor and attention to detail, clean, friendly wait staff. They don’t take reservations but we got there after 7pm on a Friday and only had to wait about 10 minutes for a seat. Cons: our waitress seemed to completely forget about us and we had to ask for someone else to take our check and take our orders several times. That was the only negative thing I had to say. Otherwise this place is a great place if your looking for authentic Colombian/Latin flavor.

I had an amazing experience at El Peñol. The food came out fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. I ordered the breaded chicken with fries, and it was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside—really well seasoned too. The side dish of beans with rice was comforting and tasted homemade.
The portions are generous, Vall the server she is friendly, and the atmosphere feels warm and authentic. Also, they brought out the sauces right away, and everything tasted great together.
Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to. Highly recommend if you want delicious Colombian-style comfort food.
