The wine selection was impressive and gave us lots of great options to choose from. The lobster bisque soup was decadent. The steaks were honestly better than we imagined. Perfectly cooked, full of flavor, exactly what you hope for when you go somewhere known for steak.
We were seated upstairs in a private room, which created the perfect atmosphere for conversation and a relaxed evening. It felt elevated without being stuffy.
What really stood out was the service. Attentive, professional, and seamless from start to finish. The team made the whole night feel special.
If you’re looking for a high-end steakhouse experience in Toronto, this is absolutely worth it.
The food on the other hand was not up to the mark. I have had many steaks in my day and this was definitely one of the worst I’ve ever had. The dessert wasn’t much to write home about either. The wine was decent. The ambience in the upstairs area was also lacking.
Not really worth the price, in my opinion
I would definitely choose a sauce next time to enhance the taste of the steak because the flavour was slightly underwhelming.
Mac & cheese was tasty but wish they added some more shrimp
Waiter was extremely nice and welcoming and the overall service was very good.
Definitely on the pricier side for what is given but somewhat expected for a spot downtown
We were helped by Athena, who was amazing in walking us through the menu. They also put anniversary cards in our menus and served us complimentary chocolate lava cake at the end which was so nice and thoughtful. (And oh, the cake was so delicious. We were full but still finished the cake).
We ordered bone-in ribeye and French onion soup. The bone-in ribeye cooked medium would just fall off the bone . We got garlic butter on the side which was a nice touch and French onion soup was just so warm and fresh and tasty. Their in-house bread with the butter was also so freshly made and.
All around amazing night with thoughtful staff and delicious food!
Our server provided excellent customer service. He was friendly, attentive, and made an effort to connect with both us and our kids. His recommendations for the kids were thoughtful and appreciated.
Unfortunately, the experience at the entrance was not what we expected from an upscale restaurant. As we arrived, a verbal dispute broke out between a couple without a reservation and the hostess. A gentleman from the staff stepped in to assist, but the argument continued in front of other guests, including children. While it seemed the guests initiated the conflict, the situation could have been handled more professionally and discreetly.
We were seated upstairs, and I would not recommend that area. It felt quiet, isolated, and lacked the lively, upscale ambiance you’d expect at a place like Morton’s. If you’re planning to go, definitely ask to be seated on the first floor, the atmosphere there seemed much more enjoyable.
As for the food, it did not meet our expectations, especially for a high-end steakhouse on a special occasion. The steaks were underwhelming and lacked the flavor and tenderness we were hoping for. The salad was also disappointing, the lettuce was wilted and didn’t taste fresh. Even considering how busy Valentine’s night can be, that doesn’t justify the drop in food quality.
Overall, while we appreciated the great service from our waiter and the convenience of valet parking, the food, seating, and front-door incident left us with a less-than-satisfying experience. Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend Morton’s based on our visit.
Pro tip- order gift cards online at Costco ahead of time.
Salad portions are quite large (picture is a half portion).
Environment was quite loud and tables were very close together compared to my other steakhouse experiences.
Our server, Chelsea, and the Assistant Manager Brady Hudspeth went above and beyond to make us feel special. They were not only attentive and professional but so warm and personable—true ambassadors of the Morton’s brand. Chelsea and Brady made us feel like we were returning regulars rather than first-time guests. Their care and enthusiasm made the evening one of the best we’ve ever had!
We had just come from the theatre and went for dinner and drinks and the entire experience far exceeded our expectations. It honestly felt like coming home. Because of Chelsea and Brady, we will definitely be returning customers!
If you’re thinking of dining at Morton’s The Steakhouse (Toronto) do yourself a favour and ask for Chelsea and Brady. You won’t be disappointed—they are simply spectacular and will make your night one to remember.
Kudos to Brady and Chelsea and congratulations to Morton’s for employing and empowering such fabulous staff. It is this type of culture that ensures repeat business and success.
Thank you
