Madurai Mes offers a variety of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. The spice level is just right — medium and flavorful — making every dish enjoyable without being overwhelming. The only small downside is that the food can take a bit of time to arrive, especially during busy hours. But the taste and quality more than make up for the wait. They said aatukal soup in the menu but it looks like mutton soup.

Food is great. We really liked the flavors and the freshness. We got Masala Dosa, Plain Dosa, Fried Noodles with Egg, Madurai Mutton Kuzhambu, and Parotta. The chutneys that came with the dosas were fresh and tasted great. I loved the tomato chutney. We also got filter coffee and Mango Lassi. Both were good.
As pointed out by several other reviewers, this place needs to fix the air conditioning. It was really hot inside. I can’t imagine how people would sit inside during the peak of summer. That was the only unpleasant part of the dining experience.

We had a wonderful experience at Madurai Mess! The food is absolutely delicious, the portion sizes are generous, and the service is always quick and timely. Every dish tasted authentic and flavorful. Whenever we visit San Antonio, this is our go-to place — they never disappoint. Highly recommended!

The service was good and staff was friendly. The biggest issue was food quality. The sambhar was very salty. The other chutney/curries weren’t good either. The Mysor dosa was good and Idli was good too. Chole Bhature wasn’t good either and Chole wasn’t North Indian style. There is room for improvement in terms of quality.
The quantity of food was sufficient and price seems to be on higher side. The atmosphere was dim and dull. It needs to be redesigned.

I visited the place 2-3 times and found it pretty full as soon as it’s opened. They have wide variety of food items, good portions within reasonable prices, quick serving time (10-15 minutes max depending on no. of food items ordered) even at rush hours and serving way. Their ‘pan’ (bettle leaf) is one of the best and worths the price.
The only drawback was if you sit at the left side of the first alley during summer, you may profusely sweat because that area isn’t properly aerated/ventilated.

First time trying this place and it was amazing! We ordered the bhaj poori, a dosa with potatoes, southern style goat curry, northern style chicken tikka masala, garlic naan and chicken 65. We’re out of towners and came here to eat bc they were open til 11pm.
