TRENDS ARE NICE BUT TRADITIONS ARE BETTER and we have been proudly serving our family traditions for over 48 years. It’s that family touch that makes all of the difference. You will taste it in our food that is made from scratch every day. We offer specialties that reflect the culinary diversity of Mexico and our dishes simply aren’t found in other Mexican Restaurants.
Ever since we opened back in 1976, Desperados has always considered itself a different Mexican experience and we are proud to say that most people agree. We invite you to come in and enjoy this delicious Dallas original. You can only find us at two locations; in the heart of Dallas on historic Greenville Ave. and in the Garland/Richardson area on Campbell Rd.
Relaxed Mexican eatery serving traditional dishes & Tex-Mex fare, plus brunch & cocktails.

Ricky was genuinely one of the sweetest and most attentive servers I’ve ever had. He went out of his way to help me find vegetarian options and made me feel completely comfortable asking questions about the menu. You can tell he really cares about giving people a good experience. He checked in at the perfect times, was kind, patient, and had such a warm, positive energy. It made the whole experience feel more personal and enjoyable. I’m so grateful for his help and would absolutely come back because of him.

Years ago, a (church) friend strongly recommended Desperado’s to me and I became a regular shortly thereafter.
Fast forward after Covid and I’ve returned here to enjoy their delicious food.
Whether it’s chicken or steak, the “Desperado’s Tacos” are an absolute fan favorite.
The host working yesterday evening and our server were very friendly as well as professional.
Compared to other Tex Mex restaurants within the DFW Metroplex, Desperado’s is quieter and not overpriced either.
If you visit during “peak dinner hours” parking might become (slightly) tricky, but please do NOT let that deter you from visiting.

What an amazing experience we had for our first time dining here!! We were celebrating a family member’s 50th birthday and fortunate enough to have Saul attend to us. Not only was he kind and patient, but so attentive! He truly went above and beyond, providing impeccable service! All of the entrees he recommended turned out delicious! The San Lorenzo chicken and tortilla soup are amazing – a must try!

The Desperados Tacos are fantastic! Crispy flour tortillas are soon good. Glad I got them.

I have been dining at Desperados (on Greenville) since 1976, next year will be their 50th anniversary. Then till now the food and service has been great, thanks to Levy family! I sit in the Michael Grant Booth and have a Michael Grant Margarita and Guiso, every Thursday! Our waitress, Goudeloupe Gutierrez, has been a favorite for some time. She is always gracious, conscientious, dedicated and fast. On a scale of 1-10… she would be an 11.

Had an amazing experience at this spot! The drinks were fantastic and the appetizers were absolutely delicious—perfect flavors and fresh ingredients. Our server, Santiago, was attentive, friendly, and made the experience even better. Great atmosphere, great service, and I’ll definitely be coming back for more. Highly recommend!

I love this restaurant. Their salsa is so good. I always do the taco salad with chicken! They have good margaritas too! Service can be hit or miss, but mostly hits. I’ve only had semi slow service or a server who never checks on me once or twice out of the many times I’ve been. Happy to always go back!

Great tex mex food. We had the shrimp quesadillas Acapulos and cheese enchiladas. The shrimp dish had plenty of shrimp, and the cheese enchiladas with con carne sauce were well seasoned and some of the best I have had in a long time. We also had house Margheritas, which were great, but served in a Tom Collins glass. We prefer the traditional Margherita glass.

Came in for the first time for dinner wirh my family. The atmosphere and speed of service was really good for the occasion. Our server was very attentive and overall great at their job. However when it came down to the food I was kinda disappointed. The chicken itza I got was bland and lacked any distinct flavor. The rice had a strange after taste. My family wasnt happy with the portions being small for their entrees either. Also I have to give negative marks for them using store bought flour tortillas. The saving grace of the food experience was the dessert. Their Kahlua cake and sopapilla were very tasty. Not sure I’ll return for dinner or lunch based on the entrees but I’d consider returning for dessert.
