Tex-Mex chain serving mesquite-grilled fare & margarita-sangria swirls in a hacienda-style space.

I had a great experience at Uncle Julio’s. The shrimp tacos were absolutely delicious, and the margarita flight was amazing—especially the blueberry, mango, and strawberry flavors. Our server, Liyla, was great and made the experience even better with her excellent service. I would definitely come back again

The atmosphere here is really nice. A very well decorated dining room. The food is some of the better Mexican in Northern Virginia. The chips and salsa are great. We had the fish tacos and tamales. Both were very good. The rice and beans were really good. They have a salad that’s kind of a pico de gallo with cabbage that is very good. The service was a little slow.

We reserved a table for my son’s birthday, accommodating a party of ten. The drinks took approximately thirty minutes to be served at the table, and the food was served haphazardly. The waitress made numerous sarcastic and rude remarks, which I find unprofessional, given my experience in the hospitality industry. Each individual bill exceeded $125, with an 18% gratuity added to each. The service did not justify the 18% gratuity. Additionally, the waitress retained one of our credit cards; when my friend, who was holding her three-month-old child, was aware that the card was not returned, her husband had to request it back, and the rude waitress kept it in her pocket.
Being in the hospitality business this was not acceptable.
A $90 tip definitely was not earned.

My wife tried to call your establishment, but the call was either terminated automatically or rang and went unanswered. This morning both she and our daughter received a $10 charge from Uncle Julio’s on their credit and debit cards, respectively; our last visit to your restaurant was the afternoon of October 23, nearly a month and a half ago. Have the cards been compromised? We attempted to call and find out if you were aware of the situation. Both cards have since been frozen and are being replaced.
We always looked forward to eating at Uncle Julio’s when we were in the Woodbridge area but on the October visit, we noticed a big change…and not for the better. The quality and quantity of the food received did not justify the highly noticeable price increases. I paid $28 for the steak fajitas, for example, and was barely provided enough meat and vegetables for the three soft tortillas. Initially I thought I was being punked. I understand beef is expensive but skimping on onions and green peppers for $28 is unacceptable. In the past we always had a box to bring home, but apparently those days are over.
I wasn’t going to leave a review from our October visit because I forgot about it and it’s now in the rearview mirror, but I felt I needed to reach out after todays stated charges and the inability to talk to anyone.

We had an amazing experience at Uncle Julio’s! The food was absolutely delicious—flavorful, fresh, and as close to authentic Mexican cuisine as you can get. From the perfectly seasoned meats to the homemade tortillas, every bite was a treat.
The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was great. Everything came out hot and fresh, and you can tell they put a lot of care into their dishes. If you’re looking for high-quality Mexican food that truly delivers on flavor, Uncle Julio’s is the place to go. Can’t wait to come back!

We came here on Saturday to celebrate my grandma’s friend’s 84th birthday, and unfortunately, the experience was really disappointing. She asked for coffee and never received it. The service overall was extremely slow, and the staff didn’t seem attentive or motivated at all — probably because gratuity is automatically added to the bill, so there’s no real incentive for good customer service.
The food wasn’t any better. All the sides tasted stale, and the next day, everyone in my family had stomach issues. It’s hard to understand how this place is still running with such poor organization and a kitchen that clearly needs improvement. They seriously need a new chef and better management. I would not recommend this place unless major changes are made.

I love Tex Mex food and I have been anxious to try Uncle Julio’s!
I ate at the bar and service was prompt and very good.
The chicken fajita quesadilla was almost tasteless in all honesty.
The dips that come with the chips are pretty good.
The chips are not great either.
This place has potential and so would try it again.
But after reading some of the other reviews I understand the comments of many others!
The kitchen needs to step up the spices a bit.
It is a nice restaurant and very interesting inside.
I didn’t take any inside pictures because I felt let down from the food.
Go try it, let me know your comments!

When this place first opened, I remembered not being that impressed. So, years later, I decided to give this place another go, hoping things had changed, it has not. From the get go, the salsa and chips they brought were plentiful, and the chips were appropriate sizes, hardly any crushed and tiny bits. But they were far too oily, they lacked flavor but that didn’t bother me since it would be the salsa that gave it its flavor. Nope. The salsa was far too runny and wet to even stay on the chip, so I would recommend getting guacamole instead, which was good. What I liked about this place was the chicken, which was extremely juicy and perfectly cooked, and the drinks, which we hastily and sloppily made but gets the job done. I ordered the Taco Salad, which was huge! I don’t know how they think one person can finish that salad. But with the taco salad, the tortilla that goes with it was old and not crispy, which made the salad dry. Other notes to consider is that they undercooked the rice, flies disturbed our dinner, and the wait was forever. They brought half our food then 10 minutes later the rest came. I will not take this out on the employees because they were the best part about this restaurant, everyone of them were kind and gave us the best service they can offer. Go if you like to this place, the atmosphere is something to consider also and this place has a lively atmosphere. But I will be getting my Tex-Mex food from someplace else.

Good vibes, food and drinks were pricey but good, guacamole was unseasoned though and the whole restaurant smells like gas from the fireplace

We used to love Uncle Julio’s, but over the past few years it has been declining. When we arrived, no one was at the host stand, and employees walked past us without acknowledging us. Once we were seated, our server was actually great kind and attentive. Our favorite appetizer has always been the queso, but wow, it has changed and not for the better. I’m not sure what was done differently, but please bring the old queso back!
When we left, the host was on her phone but did say bye. Sadly, this is not the same Uncle Julio’s we used to love.
