Came to get buffalo burgers and alligator, was told they haven’t had either one in quite awhile but just leave them on the menu.i ordered the most popular menu item, the all you can eat walleye. Thin very chewy pieces of walleye that no amount of tartar sauce can overcome. One visit in this lifetime was more than enough for me.

The service was not that bad we got our stuff pretty fast (we were the only ones in there) My salad only had 1 singular tomato in it no cheese barely any toppings and their croutons were unseasoned. I got my chicken and it was very dry and kinda hard, the mashed potatoes don’t even get me started were just straight instant mashed potatoes from a box. Lastly they didn’t even have to go boxes so I had to wrap my chicken in tin foil and couldn’t even take the mashed potatoes. Environment wise there was a ceiling fan that rattled the entire time and was very annoying.

We found Buffalo Jacks online and drove down about 50 miles especially to try wild game. Upon arriving we were handed menus with all the wild game crossed out except alligator sampler and buffalo fajita and philly cheese steak. I ordered the buffalo fajita for $17.95 it was on a small hamburger bun and came with nothing. The 3 piece ” walleye” looked like tails and tasted like cod. It came with a baked potato no butter offered for it. NEVER GO BACK TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT

Update 8/26/23
The service was better with this visit. However, some of the food from this visit was terrible.
The “hot” cheeseball appetizers had zero spice to them and had a weird taste. Onion grass is not listed on the menu as an appetizer, but they were able to make them.
The alligator was unavailable due to being out of season and “mating season”.
The trail rider hoagi sandwich, buffalo cheeseburger (smaller than expected), and chicken chunks were pretty good.
The walleye was inedible. The cocktail sauce was gelatinous and could be cut with a fork while keeping it’s shape from a cup. The prime rib wasn’t very good and had an odd taste.
I’m not sure anyone in our party will be returning soon for a meal.

We sat in a booth on the bar side of the restaurant. The atmosphere was rugged. There were plenty of taxidermy pieces to look at.
The service was subpar.
The food was okay. There were a few exotic meats offered. The menu needs to be updated as to exclude items no longer available.
The prices are very reasonable.

My girlfriend and I made a special trip up because she had fond memories with her dad when she was a girl. I can honestly say it was the saddest dining experience I’ve ever had. For her sake I wanted it to be special and important. But when we came in we were the only people there besides the server and it felt like I wandered into a business on hospice care. Rather than making regular updates to menu and venue, the owner is clearly fixated on the glory days of yesteryear. Usually when this happens to a business they will either reinvent themselves to success or they will double down on their race towards the bottom. Cutting costs any way they can to lure in the value shoppers yielding lower profits on each desperately sought after customer.
Our salads were iceberg lettuce with basic dressing. Literally. Just lettuce. My girlfriend received two miniature chicken beasts served bare, and plain. No onions or peppers, nor cheese as described in menu. Just two petite plain beasts on a plate. When brought up her meal returned with what look like a whole can of mushrooms heat it up and put on top. An ingredient absent from the menu or discussion until arriving on the plate. Just plain chicken with canned mushrooms on top. My wings were weird and small with a side cup of Buffalo sauce. Ironically when I asked for buffalo wings she said she didn’t have buffalo wings she had hot or mild or barbecue. I said mild and received said Buffalo sauce. It was mainly fatty chicken jerky. I felt so bad for our server in the entire situation that we finished our meal out of pity and left a 20% tip because frankly we were probably the only customer she had all day. I would have took more out of pity but the whole experience was so incredibly sad on so many different levels we ended up laughing and trying to hide our Snickers on the way out because of the irony of it all. If you go to this restaurant ironically just to see how bad it is it’s absolutely worth it. In fact, I highly recommend it just for that purpose. But don’t go there and actually eat the food or expect any kind of anything beyond seeing something sadly humorous.

We drove 2 hrs just to visit for the game menu. Everything was great. Service was excellent. Decorations were all authentic Indian. Pretty neat historical place. Bathroom was old and kinda of dingy.

We’ve waited excitedly to get the chance to go to Buffalo Jack’s. Today was the day. Fort Rowdy closed early due to the weather so we were walking into the restaurant about 5.45pm. We weren’t greeted particularly friendly but the lady was ok. Seated quickly and the waitress brought us drinks. We ordered immediately about 6pm. Excited to try 2 starters mushrooms and elk sausage. We also ordered Buffalo t bone steak and a buffalo ribeye. Both medium rare. And so the wait began…. 40 minutes later my husband’s side salad arrived. Over an hour later, seemed like 2 the starters arrived. What an anti climax….. both on the same plate! And not a garnish in site. Just about $1 a piece for the mushrooms. If it was elk I have no idea the sausage basically tasted of pepper, it was a pepper sausage and the battered mushrooms not great. And to make the experience really good the waitress chooses to tell me well over an hour from ordering that they had no Buffalo t bones!!! You’re kidding me. She offers a rib eye I say yes in desperation, it came with fresh “tinned” carrots and sweet potato fries. Garnished with wild rice. We eat our steaks medium rare. That’s not rare its medium rare, the first time ever my husband sent his steak back as it was raw not rare. Mine was not of an even thickness so I had medium to well round the edges medium to rare in the middle. Good enough not exceptional. The wild rice garnish was really good. Oh and we had to ask for refills when our drinks were nearly empty. $66’s of disappointment. I can tell you the grass looked greener on the other tables. The all you could eat fish looked really good, a gentleman’s prime rib looked good. We all had long wait times though. Would I go again, maybe but I’d check menu better, ask more questions thats for sure.
The place was exceptional the decor the attention to detail. I loved it. I just hope they had staff/chef issues because I would love to think they could do better.

Someone needs to save this place. Back in the day this place was always packed. Good food, wild game, now it’s just a shell of its former past.

We were staying in the area and decided to stop for lunch on our way home. Unfortunately at this time they did not have any game meat other than bison. My suggestion is if you are wanting have a game meal, call and check if they are serving game.
We ordered a Buffalo burger, fries, sirloin steak, home fries, with green beans. Food was good, served hot.

Only wild game restaurant I know of. Very friendly staff, good menu, and full bar. Not a ton of draft options, but still decent selection. Place has good homey vibe and neighborhood bar feel.
