Riverview Restaurant & Marina was established in 1956. It began as a one room shack that sold hot dogs, burgers and cold drinks on the weekends. As the place grew more popular, another room was added to accommodate seating. Over the years, more additions were made to the building and dock as the need arose. Overlooking the Cumberland River, it became a popular riverfront dining destination. In May 2010, one of the worst floods in Middle Tennessee history destroyed the building. After over a year, Riverview Restaurant & Marina reopened on May 25, 2011. The beautiful new restaurant features indoor and outdoor waterfront seating in a relaxing atmosphere, along with the friendly service and great food that has been the heart all along.

I hadn’t been to Riverview since before the 2010 flood and it being rebuilt. It was very nice inside. The staff was very friendly and service was excellent. The catfish had a great taste, was hot and fresh. The baked potato was cooked perfectly, soft and fluffy. The coleslaw was good as well. Looking forward to next visit.

Oh boy do I love this place! It may be slightly different than a pure traditional Southern catfish in that the cornmeal coating is a bit lighter and crispier then most other places I’ve eaten at. But I think they do some of the best fried mushrooms that I’ve eaten in years. They’re always super hot and fresh their catfish is fried perfectly they have tons of good toppings, their french fries are awesome, the turnip greens, white beans, coleslaw, and fried okra are all top-notch! Their tea is amazing as well!

Nice view and the staff were friendly. I had popcorn shrimp, crab cake, fried okra and white beans. The popcorn shrimp was overcooked. It was extremely dry. I didn’t like the coating on everything, it was really dry. The white beans had do flavor. Which I was surprised by. We also had the shrimp jammers. They were fantastic. The catfish was good the coleslaw was nice. Not a place I would go to again for seafood. It was just okay.

I’m not much into seafood but my dad wanted to go. First off, the view, was GORGEOUS!! We asked to sit outside since it was in the high 70’s and the weather was great. The server (I forgot her name ♀️) was great! I got the Fried Shrimp Dinner with a side salad and fried. They brought me out the grilled shrimp (I think the man above might have been trying to tell me to lay off the fried food??) but when I told our server about it, she brought me out freshly fried shrimp and told me to keep the grilled ones. I told my dad to leave room for dessert cause I noticed they had banana pudding which is our favorite! Unfortunately, when we went to order, found out it was all sold out! She said they make a big batch but it goes pretty fast. So we settled for the chocolate molten cake and the key lime pie. I couldn’t finish the cake cause it was definitely sweet ( more of a two person dessert). My dad ate all the Key Lime before I could try it. I probably wouldn’t make the trip for the food, but I’ll definitely come back for the atmosphere, service and to try the Pie and Pudding!

We went twice in a row. Generally speaking, the service is slow. The waitress may have been a bartender as well…multitasking. The hushpuppies were good, and I’m not even fond of hushpuppies in general. They are generous with sauces and dressings.
The food was good enough. Watermelon Margaritas were really good.
